Re: Seriously approaching Semde on ones own

Look for yourself which works for you how and when. Each person on the path needs to get to know themselves and see how to work with how they are. Like the veenah / violin, don't pull the string too firm, neither too loose. Some plan is good, but not too severe, how can you relax and let go otherwis...

Re: Learning a lesson

I have noticed that you use the term ‘ego’ a lot. As it does not equate to any concept in either Theravada or Mahayana philosophy, being as it is a term invented by western psychology, it might be useful if you defined it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcS04BI2sbk abt 55-61 mins I mean, whole mee...

First of all: welcome to the forum. Secondly, don't be too severe with yourself. it is excellent to have the thoughts like yours - a valuable way to use this precious human life. Sometimes we see clarity and sometimes we are obscured again. This is how it is, don't fight against this but appreciate ...

Re: What brought you to the dharma & what's your biggest challenge?

I was in a situation in life at age 34 when I realized I needed to break through mind's habitual patterns. MBSR showed me how to meditate. And I immediately knew, that's a copy and I needed to go for "the real" thing. When I was at age 23 in Sikkim, nothing whatsoever rang the bell. I have a theory ...

Well, These Forums say that it's non-adaptable unter Windows 10. Firefox doesn't work stable with my Cookie restriction preferences - I guess theres one mal to choose in-between. These whole Systems don't really get better, least to say 'slimmer' (good News though: we get G5 to support These immense...

Re: boring questions about losing weight

Kindly send my and Injera recipe (or link) via PN. Thanks! Glad you like injera. It is very good and healthy. It's main ingredient is teff flour, which is much healthier than regular flour. Here is a recipe I found online, it's fairly simple, once you can find teff flour, that is. https://www.foodn...

Re: boring questions about losing weight

I do intermittent feasting since more or less half a year. Breakfast, lunch, full stop. This is very relieving and it has an indirect effect on my food's composition too since chocolate and chips (crisps for the Brits) come in the evening. I didn't lose a single gram and sometimes it's socially awk...

Re: Reincarnation of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama

Well, I think the guru's quality isn't so much the entitlement to teach. It is the degree of ripeness and my karmic connection to him/her. When progressing on the path, each situation becomes your guru. But for starting-off I think most of us need our ego being confronted "the hard way": Q: Must we ...

Re: Do any of you use social media to spread Dharma?

I am sharing thoughts on Instagram, what there IS for me at a very moment. Patterns in the sky, delicious taste, dakini day, recognizing the play of the elements. This is not any admonition of the dharma, I would consider it futile at any rate. But sharing with others is a common pattern of how we a...

Re: A Non-Zen Koan For Vajrayana Students

Simon, you are brave at looking. Keep looking. Can you accept that both harm has been done and benefit has been contributed? The potentiality of the paradox? It might seem weird that these things still need some resolution after all this time, but they clearly do. Sit in calmness and look: who needs...

Re: A Lesson.

This guy in the incense shop probably chose an answer that helped him to abstain a sticky projection which so easily strengthens ego-sense. Not expressing much about the personal practise is also a trait I see in my teacher, and it's probably good in the way that I have to figure out myself what's g...
