Re: Mipham Rinpoche channels Weinstein:

Thanks - will read. What was CT's basis for setting himself up in these roles (as opposed to anyone else)? Did he claim some special authority from the Kalachakra? I'm not really remembering right now, perhaps someone else knows. I will have a look around later and get back to you. It's definitely ...

Re: Mipham Rinpoche channels Weinstein:

*Using his given name, as I neither want to associate him with Jamgon Mipham nor use his self-assumed title of "earth king". Actually, CTR set up a whole bunch of different roles with titles for the Kingdom of Shambhala or whatever it is called. Sakyong is one of them, and CTR was the first one. SM...

Yes, and in the pdf it was said he was often shitfaced (my term) when groping, raping, and abusing women.

Really? Where does it say that he was drunk while raping someone? I still haven't really read it but I don't see anything like that.

Re: Mipham Rinpoche channels Wienstein:

I didn't read the whole report, but did any woman actually confront him with how she felt about it all? I'm just starting to look through it, but in the first anonymous story and impact statement the woman writes: Finally, however, common sense and the reality of how ashamed, anguished, and bewilde...

I appreciate your concern. It is, however, unnecessary.
It's quite clear that Trungpa was open about his sexuality.

Very good. So, you admit you were just making shit up?
No.
That's an odd assumption.

Um, whatevs dude.

No, I don't think He demanded or manipulated. I know at least two women He asked to go to bed with Him who said no and that was the end of that. One stayed His student to this day; the other decided that sangha/Teacher wasn't for her. Right. I understand he was very open about his sexuality. Now, n...

Re: CTR, polygamy, cocaine, etc: Discuss

Well he was both polyamorous and polygamous. In a culture that does not practice polygamy, when a very influential religious figure introduces it (just for himself btw) it raises a lot of questions about motivation. Being polyamorous is no big deal if all partners are on board, and even within a te...

Re: CTR, polygamy, cocaine, etc: Discuss

I am surprised that you equate the use of intoxicants, which is a matter for an individual to decide, with sexual abuse which causes direct harm to another. Yes, that is the typical Protestant attitude. It seems that the Buddha, on the other hand, thought otherwise: Sikkha Sutta Both in terms of se...

Re: Crazy Wisdom

And this idea that a lama has to be able to ride a pregnant female tiger or... in order to manifest unconventional behaviour, talk about unrealistic expectations... I don't think it would be that hard to ride a pregnant female tiger, honestly. Riding a pregnant male tiger would be something, though.

Re: Crazy Wisdom

Apparently Horace wrote an ode in which he refers to Epicureanism, a doctrine he had subscribed to in his youth, as insaniens sapientia , and this has been translated by some as "crazy wisdom". Maybe that's where CTR got the expression from. Another advocate of the term is Ngakpa Chogyam, who seems ...

Re: Is everything "one" or are we just inter-connected without a center?

As Thinley Norbu Rinpoche says in "White Sail": If we believe in the continuity of mind, then love inconspicuously connects us to the ones we love with continuous positive energy, so that even tangible separations between people who love each other do not reduce the intangible power of love. . You c...
