How often is it necessary to see one’s teacher in Vajrayana?
Until he or she stops answering your questions.
And if they stop?

if I am wrong I am going to suffer from Yahweh's unending punishments.if I go back to christianity, despite how unhappy I would be and despite my logical side always rejecting it nor agreeing with its ethics and buddhism is right my karma would be so bad I would likely die really soon,be prey to all...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Interestingly I was talking to a student of Tsoknyi Rinpoche recently and learned that their group has a sadhana practice that not only includes Song of the Vajra (and the purification of the five elements), but uses the same melody. Tsoknyi Rinpoche presumably received it from ChNN though. Interes...

Re: Boundless Vision Tulku Tsolo

Does anyone here have experience with this text? https://www.amazon.com/Boundless-Vision-Manual-Dzogchen-Changter/dp/1985102846/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522255581&sr=8-1&keywords=boundless+visión I havent read it but I find it quite odd that Dowman "edited" a Tulku Thondup translation. This could be...

Re: Last Jedi? What'd you think?

I think all of the complaints are fair and legit (except the porgs. Why doesn't any like the porgs?) I know exactly two persons who love the porgs. One is a Vajra brother of mine who very, very occasionally posts here. The identity of the other I have sworn never to reveal to the world on the penal...

Re: Last Jedi? What'd you think?

Was there one, or several, main points that you didn't like; ...or just, everything? I'm talking to one of my friends on facebook and he absolutely hates what they did with Luke. In addition to having seen all the movies (as, I assume, we all have) he has read many Star Wars novels and so has a ver...

(An avid SW fan since I first saw the Return of the Jedi at the ripe age of five:) I was sorely disappointed. Really tried to like it. Could not.

Re: Teacher & Root Guru

It is probably "meant" to be confusing since it is not something that is meant to satisfy rationalising/dualistic mind. That is how I account for it on the sunnier days too. Then there is probably the issue of expedient means: different strokes for different students, one would guess. The thing is ...

Re: Teacher & Root Guru

A quality of Recognition is "confidence." But that "confidence" doesn't mean one cannot confirm with the guru. That is actually an appropriate thing to do, though admittedly not always an easy thing to do. EPK's Club Nondualité article is worth reading with regards to this issue. E.g.: "The process...

All I can really say, in the end, is that you should have confidence if you have "gotten" it--confidence not really contrived.
Interestingly, there are teachers who will separate "getting it" from "having 100% confidence about it," you know.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Well, if my source is not lying (and why would they be), no extrapolation here at all. I heard about the whole thing from a person who was there, taking part in a DC pilgrimage in Nepal, who was among those whom ChNN told to seek out LTN and TUR, and who actually did go out and meet LTN (they did n...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

It could be that someone just extrapolated that that's who he would recommend based the same info that you just gave, rather than Rinpoche directly saying that. Well, if my source is not lying (and why would they be), no extrapolation here at all. I heard about the whole thing from a person who was...

Lopon Tenzin Namdak. It doesn't look like he is very accessible at the moment. Hopefully there are others as well. Actually, he is very (given his age) accessible: http://www.shenten.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=40&Itemid=106&lang=en As far as I know, there seem to ...

Re: Is Mind Fundamental?

Lonchenpa and Dzogchen in general does not reject external objects. I recall you saying that the Yogacarin model is kosher as well? No, that is not correct. I tend to avoid teachers who have such a fundamentalist attitude --- and there are many. The teachers I have encourage questioning--- it is a ...

Re: Is Mind Fundamental?

I'm not proposing subjective idealism. Well, you said Without a doubt, Model B is much cooler. 😎 Since Model B is internally triadic, holds that percepts are the actually the activation of traces that provide the content of the world that we perceive as external. I dare say you do belong in some so...
