Re: Korean Buddhism and the Fifth Precept

Re: proof of nirvana?

A friend of mine naively asked me the other day, "is there any proof of Nirvana? can you show it to me?" Before i tell you how i answered, i am curious to know your answers. Can we prove the existence of Nirvana, either through logic or sutras? it is a fair question after all. Btw, I answered in th...

Re: Which traditions revere vegetarianism the most?

One anecdote I heard from an attendant was when Kusan Sunim, a great contemporary Korean teacher came to the US, many people had no idea about him being vegetarian or not drinking alcohol. He also made no mention of it and just quietly picked some rice and veggies. At one stage he was even poured a...

Chinese are the biggest into vegetarianism. Tibetan and Japanese the least.

Not necessarily. If you were living in Nazi Germany and hiding Jews in your basement you'd be breaking the law but actually creating good karma.

Falafel lasts longer.

Re: Wrathful deities

I have issues with faith and doubt. Even if I do end up receiving a teaching there's no guarantee I'll be sticking to the practice. I tend to lose interest in practices quickly unless I'm able to see some results. We all have those issues one time or another. I don't know how likely or not you are ...

Re: Wrathful deities

Don’t wait too long. There are great teachers in the world now, who knows about the future, and who knows for how long we will be around to hear them. Every instruction text says these things - they do so for a reason I have issues with faith and doubt. Even if I do end up receiving a teaching ther...
