Re: Mantras

I developed trust in the power of mantra, when reciting "Om Amidewa Hri" created a hole in my fontanel.

In the context as to why I was doing it, that was a good thing.

I sent in my request here http://phowa.diamondway-buddhism.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm quite gratefull, that this is possible. I saw Lama Ole doing this when I attented his phowa course in august. I suspect my friend's karma is quite heavy, so it would probably take a lama...

Re: Zen and the dogma of non-duality

This is one of the reasons I find it very hard to know what we working towards in buddhism and impossible to explain to anyone else. All traditions are of buddhism are working towards the same goal, freedom from afflictions that are the cause of suffering. Some buddhist traditions, from Mahayāna on...

Re: I am the director of the documentary TULKU. Ask me anything.

Hi Gesar it's really nice that you take the time to do this I'm actually in favour of keeping the tulku system or at least doing everything to maintain it's authenticity. Maybe that's because I don't have much experience with Tibetan politics. However I do think that in the vayjarana it's absolutely...

Re: The brain and Dzogchen...

His enlightenment was not brain-based. The Hevajra Tantra states the following: Vajragarbha asked: “This yoga of the completion stage, its bliss is called great bliss, completion is not a meditation, so why do creation?” The Bhagavan replied: “Incredible, the great bodhisattva has lost the power of...

Re: The brain and Dzogchen...

The 16th karmapa could teach meditation to birds. Apparantly Thaye Dorje has also demonstrated this.

I honestly think some birds are more advanced meditators than I am :)

Point being, a bird with it's little brain can enter a state of samadhi apparrantly.

Re: The brain and Dzogchen...

I wonder a lot about this too. I don't have the answers though.

This might shed a bit of light on the experience of consiousness when the brain and body is conventionally dead.

Thank you all very much for the information so far. If you got more, please keep them coming :)

I know about Samye Ling and it looks great. But at the moment I don't have the finance to support the fee.

Would it be pointless for me to recite the vajra guru mantra without initiation? Pointless as in little benefit.

Re: Question on Buddhism Prophecies

I don't know the specifics to be honest, but I stayed down there a few weeks ago and was supposed to sleep in the same room the 16th karmapa slept in, but a family staying down there needed the room more.

Considering the prophecy, maybe I should go down there more often :)

Re: Question on Buddhism Prophecies

The 16th karmapa announced that 1000 beings would become liberated(or was it enlightned?) at the stupa at the lolland center in Denmark after he had a vision of milarepa walking through the place while his holiness the karmapa was staying there.

Lots of thanks, Alex :)

Re: Please pray for me

I wouldn't say I feel better as the conditions for my misery is still present. But I'm happy I made the effort and I had a quite exotic experience which I don't have anyone to share with since I don't have a teacher.

Please pray for me

The last 6 years and the last 3 years especially has been a living hell for me. I've been very afflicted with chronic illness and severe chronic depression. I don't consider myself a dharma practioner, because I've never been able to start a proper practice and progress. I burden myself and I feel t...
