Re: Four kinds of mindfulness according to mahamudra

Hi, do you know any more elaborated teachings on four kinds of mindfulness according to mahamudra, as mentioned by Dakpo Tashi Namgyal in Moonbeams of mahamudra? I find Lobsang Lhalungpas translation a bit difficult. however he seems to differentiate: vigorous mindfulness, spontaenous mindfulness, ...

Well I hope you can accept my apology over my private message. I seem to be getting defensive with regards to my illness to the point of anger and, my mind feels like a blank for days and days. Just got back from an injection. No worries. It's all good. Welcome to Dharmawheel and well wishes always...

Re: Non Buddhist enlightenment

Found an interesting blog. The authors seem to be talking about familiar concepts but do not actually mention Buddhism at all. Seems a bit like Zen to me but that may be me seeing a secular thing through religious lenses. https://youarealreadyenlightened.com . For me, the site is TL;DR. Are there a...

... I have worked with, and at times struggled with, how to be a teacher and a human being . Interesting. Reading the letter leads me to believe he's not struggling with being a human at all--he's got that down pat. Seems to me, the struggle is with being a bodhisattva. How do others interp...

Re: Help me with a difficult family conversation.

I grew up in the rural south in the US. My dad was an avid outdoorsman--he loved to hunt and fish. A long time ago now, he had a slowly progressing terminal cancer. I quite my job to be with him and mom for the last few months of his life. At the time I was in my mid-20s. As the end drew near, and h...

Re: Thoughts on Dzogchen without buddhism?

Long story short: while travelling in Nepal, a person who said he was a tummo-yogi pointed out the nature of my mind. ... Any thoughts, feedback and reflections are welcomed. An auspicious beginning. Get yourself a copy of, As It Is, Vol 2 , and see how well it aligns with your experience. If you h...

Re: wrathful visualization

I second JD's recommendation of Lama Tsultrim Allione's Feeding Your Demons. For two non-tantric approaches... If you are interested in working specifically with anger, check out Thich Nhat Hanh's book, Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames. Another approach is Chapter 16, Taking Afflictions and Emot...

Indeed. In fact, this coming June 30 – July 1 Garchen Rinpoche will be offering pith instruction on the Ganges Mahamudra. Don't know if it will be live streamed, but I'm guessing it will.

5th Annual USA Drikung Kagyu Monlam: June 9-10

I was surprised to not see this mentioned anywhere in Dharma Events (maybe I just missed it in my search). Don't know if it is going to be webcast.

Re: Dharma Wheel (Engaged)

I don't know if you are familiar with Dan Carlin - he was a pioneer in podcasting and did a regular current events commentary podcast called "Common Sense" for years. He quit abruptly shortly after Trump was elected, without much explanation. He recently released a new pod cast to explain why he st...

For sure, but in fairness, I saw little good and some serious nastiness in there. That's a shame. It seems a learning opportunity was missed. I wonder whatever happened to the art of disagreeing respectfully? (I've been reading a couple of very nice books on civility by P.M. Forni.) Mind yo...
