Re: Lama Lobsang Palden

So, let's just give Patricia and her husband some time to think about what has been said. They were made aware of some legitimate concerns people may have. Now it's up to them. Agreed. Your reply was fair and reasonable. I'd hate to see it get buried a series of pointless posts and not responded to...

Re: Lama Lobsang Palden

my 2c on this thread.... We should ask the questions, but perhaps not in a public forum (esp on the interwebs...). The guru relationship is a pretty personal one. One can glean bits and pieces of info from hearsay, but in the end, its just that, hearsay. At some point, one has to meet the guru in q...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Mint Which specific branch did you try to contact? Tsegyalgar East? Tsegyalgar West? Tashigar? Merigar? Namgyalgar? Perhaps Tsegyalgar West just happens to be more on top of things and/or has more staff than the other branches.... I think I contacted Tselgyegar East. How long does it take to reply ...

Taking Refuge

I have never taken refuge in the Three Jewels. Is there some special process that is recommended to do this?

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Thank you all for helping out here. Someone at Tsegyalgar West emailed me about a Gar or Ling at Tsegyalgar East that is offering instructions for the Transmission via Skype online, for those who cannot attend the instructions physically. So if we can do that, would it be essentially the same as wa...

Re: Lama Lobsang Palden

Hi all, I wish to add my experiences in how my spiritual practices has been blessed by Lama . I have known him for over 7 years in his teachings of yoga and meditations. The exchange value of $125.00 is in total balance of what I received in teachings and continue to receive. I would invite knowled...

Re: Lazy people should just give up, right?

 YES, very well-put. That's the difference between "giving up" as a manifestation of laziness and "giving up" as a manifestation of renunciation. you renounce putting energy into the process of samsara. Then you're free to just practice. The fact of the matter is, if frustrations come up ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

There is a new book I saw, called Guru Yoga -- it has all the instructions for each of the three international transmission days, as well as complete instructions for all the major guru yoga practices in teh DC. This is great news - but there've been enough downer responses to my own ability to ful...

Re: forum rules

I wasn't even aware this forum had rules. The profligacy of people who say "bullshit," "goddamn," and other expletives without penalty has led me to believe this forum is about as open and freewheeling as any freethinker's forum.

Lama Lobsang Palden

Does anyone here have any experience as a student of Lama Lobsang Palden?

I've contacted him regarding one-on-one meditation instruction, which he charges $125.00 for 6 sessions. Seems kind of odd.

Yes, it's a long way. Maybe by the time I am ready, the meditation group will have formed into a center itself. We'll see.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I e-mailed the Secretary more than three weeks ago on another separate question but never got any response. I may have to call. Have you ever gotten through? I have left a couple of different, very clear voicemails with no success. While I understand that Tselgyegar is understaffed, it seem...

Who said that compassion involved kindness? If new dharma practitioners are scandalized, that's their choice.

Re: Trungpa Rinpoche's "Crazy Wisdom" & the Steinbecks

This however is not easily understood by new dharma practitioners, so I think we should be patient and thoughtful in our responses. I understand being frustrated by these questions but this is perhaps the cross that must be born because of his behaviour. It is, as Obama would say, a teachable momen...

Re: Introduction

There are weekday evening classes where students study the path of the Shambhala Warrior and traditional Buddhist teachings. Then, there are also longer and more advanced trainings that one goes through, for example, a dathun (month long meditation retreat). The dathun can also be accomplished in w...
