Questions about energy

I don't know much about this topic so I don't know how well I'll be able to follow along this topic after I start it, but I'll try to follow for as long as I can. Some new agey folks talk about all beings having a so-called "energy field." When they say this, I think what they are saying is, quite s...

Re: Dzogchenpa by Accident?

Could be that I am wrong about what the "vehicles of cause and effect" means. But it make no sense at all that Dzogchen shouldn't be taught to Buddhists, because who should it then be taught to then? Non-Buddhists? The complete Kunjed Gyalpo is directed to a Vajrayana audience as it is the only one...

Re: Here I go again...!

Relationships are good. They are how we cultivate bodhicitta. I love and care for my girlfriend to the point that, yes, it could be easily be classified as afflictive attachment. But she is also a prime source of my motivation. Because of her, I better understand the four immeasurables and I am bett...

Re: Dzogchenpa by Accident?

I'm simply saying by believing you are not perfect from the beginning, and have to seek this "state" you are bound by your own effort. It creates an impossible task and you become your own worst enemy. It's like walking out your front door and setting on a journey to find the planet earth, when it'...

Re: Monastic Life

A good approach would be to get out in the world and meet some Buddhists. You can use a directory such as the one at DharmaWeb (see link below) to get underway. You can also tell us where you are geographically in rough terms and we can help steer you toward a healthy sangha. Finding one other Budd...

Re: Nietzsche

He's accused of being a nihilist or worse, though, mostly out of convenience. He rejected out of hand the dominant values of his time as unhealthy and unfree, and went further to claim that those values are not Eternal and Good as presented but are instead historically contingent and produced to se...

Re: Dzogchenpa by Accident?

So, mentioning Dzogchen and speaking about it as often as possible is a compassionate act because it creates the seed? Yes, if you think someone is interested. Otherwise, better not to try to condition them. N[/quote] But, one should speak as much as one's knowledge allows, yes? Otherwise the wrong...

Oh, the way you said it, it sounded as if the empowerment came with some caveats. I wouldn't want you to break your samaya and be eaten by a guardian.

Have you already seen this?

Would have been cool to have woken up and discovered the scarf actually around your neck! Are you doing dream yoga?

Re: Guardians of the Teaching

From my experience, when I was given protector Empowerements by my Guru (Mingyur Rinpoche), I was given a short daily Torma offering that I have to do everyday, for life. I have done this daily for over 8 years, I feel it keeps my connection strong with my Guru and the Lineage. What happens if you ...

This is why I put འ༔ ཨ༔ ཤ༔ ས༔ མ༔ ཧ༔ in my signature. These are the representation of the six munis in the six lokas in the form of syllables. The syllables enter the eye of the person who sees them and this creates the connection for them to be liberated. N All I see is 12 empty squares. Am I liber...

Re: Guardians of the Teaching

So, there's no guardians who can aid the beginning student of Dzogchen? or, it's useless? or, it's too harmful? I was told not to mess with Ekajati, Rahula or Dorje Legpa by yourself unless you're a well assimilated practitioner. That calling on them in a group setting like a ganapuja or something i...

Re: Dzogchenpa by Accident?

If you compare the number of people to whom you refer Dzogchen to the number of those who will never hear about it and died without doing so, you'll get an idea. If you compare then those who hear about it and criticize or hear about it and don't care or don't have any interest, you also get anothe...

Re: Dzogchenpa by Accident?

So, does simply hearing about it imply less merit than becoming a practitioner? I infer so. It is reminiscent of a teaching I heard from ChNN where he told a story that if you come into contact with Green Tara practice, you had a relationship with Green Tara at one point....whether that relationshi...
