Who is it?

Looks a lot like the famous Khenpo Munsel
Anonymous yogi. I hope it is not a photo hoax. The monk with spectacle in the first photo is Lodro Ranse (rabsel?) Rinpoche.

Re: New Rainbowbody Manifestation

Sichuan, Ganzi.

I think it is the first time we see photo with the head and partial body of a shrunken rainbowbody that is still in Tukdam. This yogi has chosen to be naked, only covered with a monk robe when he entered tukdam.

There is a Sakya Vajrayogini empowerment coming up. The requirements listed is any HYT empowerment.

Doesn't it have to be a Sakya mother tantra empowerment?
AfAIK, it has to be a major sakya wangchen, meaning two days empowerment. For Vajrayogini, the best will be Hevajra or Chakrasamvara.

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

Consider this case of Chanai Choomalaiwong: == Chanai is a boy from Thailand, who, when he was three years old, began saying that he had been a teacher named Bua Kai who had been shot and killed as he rode his bike to school. He pleaded and begged to be taken to Bua Kai’s parents, who he felt were h...

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

Please, Wayfarer, I know Ian Stevenson seems to confirm our beliefs as Buddhists but let's try not to oversell him. http://skepdic.com/stevenson.html In my opinion, the critics' views should be taken positively so that they can be used in advantage for improving the methodology. For example, the cr...

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

Do you mean, a proof accessible to those who have not developed the five abhijñās, no. One can develop that capacity and ascertain it for oneself. Like the sciences, it requires training and education. Are there examples who have achieved this insight and available for public inquiry? Mind over mat...

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

How many type of samadhis, i do not know. But there are many references in sutras of arahats and practitioners entering "deep samadhi" for which they can stayed in deep concentration without any food or moving around for prolonged period of time. Mahakashyapa is said to have entered such kind of dee...

Re: Is Anatta incompatible with rebirth?

By the way, Malcolm mentioned samadhi. Some time ago, I have searched high and low for objective evidence for samadhi. A laboratory test of some unusual mental state is best qualified as evidence. Any meditators who have sitted still for 3 or more days, 7 days, best is one month, without leaving hi...

Re: How is enlightenment achieved in madhamaka and tiantai?

So I've been reading about nagarjuna and emptiness and see that he is always trying to negate the systems of his contemporaries whilst offering no system of his own. My question is: did nagarjuna ever categorically offer a positive means or ANYTHING at all about what enlightenment is or how to get ...

Re: Advantage and disadvantage of ego and egolessness

The people that kept asking didn't give anything themselves! And it is very poorly run, unaccountable even bordering cheating, inefficient spending possibly based on ego. For example, telling you there is a project to place 6 Guru Rinpoches statues in six part of the world...and really, who should ...

Re: Advantage and disadvantage of ego and egolessness

Be very careful when a group of people approach you in Dharma centres and kept pestering you to give up self-cherishing and to have bodhicitta etc... Almost definitely, they are trying to get you to donate money and alot later ... Generosity is the first Paramita. Of course it has to be combined wi...

Re: Denial of Memory and Imagination

What is the point of us having these faculties if we are continually reminded in Buddhism that they are of negligible importance. These faculties are very useful in the mundane world. They only dwarfed in their relative importance and usefulness when compared to the full blown Omniscience that enli...

Re: What is reborn after death?

The moment before can never give birth to the later moment because they can never "meet" (i.e meet meaning they appear together at the same time). At a moment ago, this moment has not existed yet, thus we can't talk about birth. Then, as explained above, the two moments can never have a chance to ap...

Re: What is reborn after death?

Madhyamika in essence held that all phenomena are mere appearance. Indeed, the word 'phenomena' actually means 'what appears'. I think you're heading in the right direction, but the difficulty is there are very many subtleties involved in the way the word 'exist' is used in this context. As you kno...

Re: What is reborn after death?

Buddhism teaches us about Anatta. But what reborns then, if there is no Atta? Conciousness (vijñāna-skandha)? 1)There being something that is reborn is the mistaken perception held by all unenlightened beings. 2)There being no birth for any phenomena, objects including self is the view that can be ...
