Re: Text/prayer table

You could also likely contact a local woodworker, give him or her a drawing of the kind of table you want, and ask what it would cost (shouldn't be much). That way you could get something super sturdy and you'd support local business too. And if you're adventurous you could make one yourself. It's n...

Re: Dzogchen outside of Tantra

But is there anyone teaching it in it's pure form nowadays? I made distinction between Tantra and Dzogchen as it is historically-provable distinction. It is not so, from a text critical POV. The earliest, datable text we possess that uses the term “Dzogchen” is the Guhyagarbha, a tantra belonging t...

Re: Buddhist Authorities Hunt Down Monk For Being Too Ripped

Young men often ordain temporarily in Thailand. There's a good chance he's only been a monk a short time and is just a young man into lifting. Regardless, it is great that anyone is into keeping fit and strong. Indeed. Temporarily-ordained monks with muscles aren't exactly unknown. Consider, for ex...

Re: New Rainbowbody Manifestation

What's the difference from the practitioner's side between small and complete rainbow body? Is it degree of realization? Does one who achieves small rainbow body go to Dewachen since they didn't revert to light completely? Apologies for the ignorance of my questions. Bows and mudita for this monk :...

Re: Upcoming book by Karl Brunnhölzl on The Aspiration Prayer of Samantabhadra

Since English is such a 'borrowing' language, (alpha from the Greek sure fits,) then why not incorporate more Buddhist Sanskrit terms if the translator cannot abide prosaic English versions? Certainly it is the case that a number of terms in Dzogchen can be in Sanskrit, such as dharmata for example...

Re: empowerment for Dudjom Tersar Ngondro

There are, but honestly the impact is somewhat limited when all you can do is email someone, valuable as that can be at times. There are no gars near me or anything, no DC practitioners to meet up with. I personally don't want to attempt something like the Tuns simply from a book. The DC practices ...

Well there seem to be many signs that suggest Bad Times are indeed coming. Any p...

Many bodybuilders are straight edge and don't do steroids. It's a healthy and positive way to live. You on steroids or something? There ain't a body builder alive who is not on something... anything! Re: Why electronic voting is a bad idea

How long do the results take? So on election day the voting results keep pouring in (constant news coverage of course), and late in the evening you tend to know where it's headed (which parties get what % etc.) But normally in the morning the next day, the result is available though it can take may...

Re: Why electronic voting is a bad idea

Here's how it's done in Norway: Every Norwegian (legal) citizen receives a letter in advance of the various elections, and in that letter there's general information of how to go ahead and vote, where you can vote, when, etc. as well as a specific voting ID slip that you need to bring with you in or...

Re: A request to explain Vajrayana to a common Mahayanika

the problem with this is that the Vajrayana operates on premises and tenets that are, from the perspective of the common Mahayana's doctrines, inconceivable. Which is probably a good argument for keeping them off Internet forums that any tom, dick or hari can sign up to on the strength of a valid e...

If I am to listen to metal, which sometimes happens, then I certainly don't seek out some sort of politically correct family-friendly metal that is sure to offend nobody. Inane logic.
