Re: A need for insight

I can't ignore his negativity and what it's doing to an environment I'm trying to create while I study Buddhism. There are many things and people that we encounter everyday that are not positive. We are only responsible for our actions...... When a situation like this arises we must practice compas...

Re: A need for insight

There are many things and people that we encounter everyday that are not positive. We are only responsible for our actions. Not those of others. When a situation like this arises we must practice compassion and accept that person or situation as part of our path and do the best we can to not let the...

Re: compromise and relationships

half the fun and excitement of relationships is a healthy level of push and pull (oooooh-errrrrr). :jumping: Anyway, I think you are obfuscating the term compromise with the term capitulation. I think you may be right on this point, had to looknthat word up, I feel they do feel they must surrender ...

compromise and relationships

I was talking with someone yesterday whos going through some difficulties in a relationship. One of the two says that relationships are based on compromise. I know there must be compromise in a relationship, but I told them that relationships should be based more on mutual comonalities than compromi...

Re: Buddhism and Manhood.

2. As humans it basically means that we are screwed since, in contast to the case of Shakyamuni Buddha, we have been born unenlightened. In my understanding, which may be a bit off, this is the only realm we can create good Karma. So in that aspect how are we screwed? Also there are practicies that...

The first book I read was "Awakenimg the Buddha Within" by Lama Surya Das.

Re: Uncertain steps...

Monsoon, I'm glad you're trying to find the path that fits you. I can only imagine being in the presence of HH The Dali Lama, it must have felt....peaceful/serene. Buddhism in all forms I believe, is the science of the mind. We are all trying to calm our minds and learning how to control our negativ...

Re: Mayan Calendar - the End of the World!!!

Being the day "the world ends on", I feel very alive!!!!!! Today actually is the day, in astronomical mapping, the sun will rise from the center of the universe. This being viewed from the alignment of the planets and where we, on our floating rock, see this happening. The Myan calender has 7 cycles...

Re: Attachment to a girl

10+ meetings sounds like a joke to me? As long as there are only two or three people to talk to from time to time, it's okay. Because it is good to have a telephonenumber in case of emergency, and good if there's enough faith to call. Even better if one never needs it. With therapists i had similar...

Re: Attachment to a girl

I do attend about 10+ AA meetings a week... Didn't you say that AA meetings in your area were limited? That's why no sponsor?? Just sayin'... Yes in the 2 county area there are 3 places for meetings. 1 is a church, 1 halfway house and one group that is good, but very god focused. I consider that li...

Re: Attachment to a girl

Thank you Ayu. I do attend about 10+ AA meetings a week, and she also attends AA/NA meetings as well. Neither of us has any intention to stop that. I gave up on my therapist last week, she did help me a bit at first but it has gotten me nowhere in the last few months. I really appreciate all the inp...

I truly can not say thank you enough to all of you who've responded. The responses have really helped me a lot. After 25+ years of heavy drinking, I'm beginning to realize how bright and wonderful the world and the people in it are! Haha boats........lived on one for a while, sure did love it. And a...

Re: Attachment to a girl

Thank you all for the advise and input. It seems that I will just take my time and see what progresses. It's odd there was really no attraction until we really started just talking here and there. Then it seems we both realized that there is 'something' there. Ayu, thank you very much, I have ...
