Re: Getting to Lotus Pose

Could you please elaborate a little bit on what you mean by "right awareness"? Do you just mean focusing on your breath and the energy in your body? It is basically the same awareness as in the case of sitting practice. There should be no interruption of this meditative state because of the movemen...

Re: Getting to Lotus Pose

In my opinion it is not necessary to do anything else to train to sit in a particular posture. Time is short, and the time spent doing additional exercises could be time spent sitting in meditation. This all depends on your practice. Additional exercises might be a waste of time if you do sutra sty...

Re: Dzogchen: When are you ready for it?

This depends on the teacher and on the individual practiotioner. Both Lopön Tenzin Namdak and Chögyal Namkhai Norbu accept seemingly anyone coming to them. But this might be just an appearence. I remember ChNNR saying once that even today, Dzogchen is the most secret teaching of all. Those not ready...

Re: visualizing your guru as a deity

So, you're suggesting that I visualize my lama in his ordinary form without the red skin, etc. of Amitabha? No. I am suggesting that these are of secondary importance. It is also possible to practice guruyoga directly with the deity, but it is much more beneficial if one integrates one's own presen...

Re: Top Ten Misconceptions About Buddhism

37. A very common misconception is that Buddhist believe in karma in a way that would mean that one will be rewarded for his good deeds and punished for his bad deeds in the next life.

Hi all

I have been a member of e-sangha since 2004. At the beginning there were a lot of beatiful people and things there, but some narrow-minded, intolerant attitudes manifested by certain influential minds there made me take a break from them (not from dharma) for about 3 years. (Though I personally neve...

Re: Which school of Vajrayana do you practice?

I follow Yungdrung Bön.

Bönpos consider themselves Buddhist, just from another lineage.
But many other Buddhist would not accept them as such, not so much
because of differences in the teachings - it is actually the same dharma -
but more because of this difference in lineage.

Re: visualizing your guru as a deity

Try to be aware and feel that your guru is the embodiment of the unbroken lineage of gurus and disciples beginning with Amitabha. He represents Amitabha to you in this life. Through your guru you recieve the blessings and wisdom of Amitabha and of his whole lineage. By this you are becoming an intim...
