The assesination of Franz Ferdinand was a deliberate provocation in order to begin a war.
I am still unsure whether this one was a deliberate provocation or an unimaginable act of stupidity.

Re: Our Anti-War President

One of the most stupid moves in the history of US "foreign policy" ever. War crime and complete disregard for international law and diplomatic status: Soleimani was on an OFFICIAL DIPLOMATIC MISSION as part of a diplomatic initiative INITIATED BY THE USA. The USA is now at war, de-facto and de-jure,...

Re: Our Anti-War President

I very much doubt there would be a direct war with Iran. Putin would simply not allow Trump to do that, and there are many ways he can put pressure on trump if needed. Iran is extremely important in the broader Russian geopolitical strategy. Iran also absolutely doesn’t want it - it’s conventional ...

I hope the courts decision in favour of the employee stands. I think it is in accord with natural justice that an employee should be able to disclose actions made by employees which seem not to accord with that organisations own stated ethical stance when that employee can be seen to hold a coheren...

Re: Why Greta Thunberg Should Be Time’s Person of the Year

Quite the opposite really. Who is now more alert, more intelligent, more capable of learning, than when they were 14-16? All honesty, they are way better at learning. So do you somehow allege that the capacity of learning at its highest somehow magically does compensate for the lack of maturity and...

Re: Why Greta Thunberg Should Be Time’s Person of the Year

So what is the Greta phenomenon all about? Is it: 1. adult politicians dodging their own responsibility to take decisions? 2. Some dark forces using children for propaganda 3. Abusing young generations to advance own agenda because they are more prone to see the world black-and-white and so more eas...

Re: Schrodinger's Tathagatagharbha?

From the point of view of the conceptual mind looking through the sense organs it really looks like a potenitality that should/could be developed. This is the view through the lense of avidyā. Garbha has fundamentally two meanings: womb and embryo. If you interpret it as embryo, it is something that...

1. Is the cosmos (our observable universe plus whatever could be beyond it) infinitely large? 2. Is the...

Re: Is there a rational, simple, logical way to explain Nagarjuna's seemingly paradoxical teachings?

Yes, there a rational, simple, logical way to explain Nagarjuna's seemingly paradoxical teachings. They are not paradoxical. A very long explanation can be given, but essentially what he asserted was that there is no fixed point in which anything can be, you might say, "frozen in time" as being the...

Re: How did Nagarjuna not teach extreme nihilism?

That no independent dhatus, aggregates, elements, conciousness can be found as existents is not the same as claiming their non existence outright. He said of many phenomena "does not exist" outright. Saying "[the dhatu of] space is not an existant" likewise for the other dhatus is outright claiming...

Re: Did Nagarjuna teach 'post-mortem rebirth'?

When in doubt in Sanskrit it is always helpful to look at the origin and construction of words. Skt. saṃskāra (from saṃ=complete + kṛ=to do ; saṃskṛ= to accumulate ; kāra=act, action) literally means "the complex of all (karmic) accumulations" "Disposition" is not a translation but an interpretatio...
