Thank you. I am doing pretty well now, more balanced and enjoying the relationship for what it is, not what it isn't.

I have been living with one for 25 years..and recently found out about his double life.
I left him last week...now I have to figure out how to heal myself from this trauma...and keep my sanity..

Re: The case against lawns

I have felt similar things about lawns. I think fruit and nut trees are great ideas. Hedges and bushes, as well. These all provide food and shelter for birds and other animals. When I lived in Indiana, in a town south of us, there was a house which had wildflowers planted out front instead of a lawn...

Re: Getting something off your chest always makes you feel better.

My first thought was that getting something off my chest, doesn't always make me feel better. I have been through so much physically and emotionally in the last 10 years, deaths of loved ones, losing my "home", open heart surgery, dialysis, infections, etc. I have been in 3 nursing/rehab fac...

Re: Song Name Game

Aaaaahhhh! Finally here is the cue for one of my favorite songs. Especially for mods at DW it carries a message of deep methaphorical symbolism. "It's not EASY being green" - by Kermit the Frog. Don't know why that one didn't come to mind first. I love Kermie and that song! "...

Panama Papers, anyone? ... this more than a battle of candidates, it is a battle of ideas. Globalisation, heralded by the likes of Hillary Clinton, has enabled the richest in society to exploit the system while ordinary working people pick up the tab. This has been going on for decades; as a politi...

Re: POTUS 2016

New York has unexpectedly become a significant contest... I don't remember when NY actually mattered in any primary process. Ordered and put up the Bernie signs this weekend! I know the studies say lawn signs don't matter... We live on one of the main streets into and out of our village. Hoping the...

Re: Dharma kitty

I use to do metta (lovingkindness) meditation with this cat in the circle of my arms. Perhaps, that created a special bond, at least on my side. I often call Sammy the love of my life, though he largely ignores me when I visit, now.. I use to live with my sister and niece when they got him, but I li...

Well, it's the end of the line for Lily. my cherished friend and feline support system these last five years. In a few minutes I start the hike to the vet and Lily won't be coming back home. I'm wrecked. It's like the last source of joy in my life is being torn away leaving a huge bloody gaping wou...
