Re: Songs about Buddhist themes

I always liked that song too and it is very good about impermanence. But that one major flaw is pretty bad -- certainly the earth and sky will disappear one day! It might be a billion years or so, but still will happen. Here are the lyrics to Toy Soldiers, by Martika: Step by step, heart to...

Hi from DNS

No, not the domain name server, it's just me, formerly 'TheDhamma.' :hello: I changed my username from 'TheDhamma' to my actual name. I wasn't too sure about my original username and used it to refer to my website: http://www.TheDhamma.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but it can b...

Re: Hi all

I feel attracted to the attitude and tradition of the Mahasiddhas: several of them initiated both Bön/Buddhist, Hindu/Buddhist and even Jaina lineages. My main gurus (among many others I deeply respect) are Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche and Ramana Maharshi of Arunacha...

Re: The Six Paramitas (Perfections)

Perhaps compassion (karuna) is also intertwined with the dana (generosity) paramita. I suppose real generosity could not happen without compassion.

Re: 100 Million Mani Retreat 2009 25 – 27 Dec 2009

When I first read this title, i thought it was 100 million man retreat.

But I guess that could be possible (100 million men) via online participation, etc.

Re: Buddha Nature

A question I currently have concerns Buddha nature. What is the difference between Buddha-datu, Tathagatagarba, and Buddha nature? Are they all the same thing? Do different Mahayana schools teach them differently? Buddha-datu = 如来蔵 Tathagatagarba = 佛性 Just messin' with ya' (I don't know Ch...

Hi venerable,

I remember you from e-sangha. I posted mostly in Modern Theravada where I read some of your posts too. My screen-name over there was vipassana8.

Re: Was the Buddha enlightened before he appeared as Shakyamuni?

Had Prince Gautama not been a richand handsome prince, not had more beautiful wives than all other men, not been a better athlete and scholar and so forth, how could he be credible, later, as Gautama Buddha, declaring that worldly possessions are not everything? Had he just been a poor yogi, many m...

Re: Top Ten Misconceptions About Buddhism

24. Tantra is (always and only) about sex. Oye yes, let's please dispel that myth! :thanks: Also related to the above: 26. "Tantra gurus and 'teachers' advertising weekend courses for individuals and couples are Buddhist teachers." Perhaps 99% to 100% have never studied under any Rinpoche or teache...
