Re: Did i reach nirvana?

Reddust, Thanks for the offering "The world suffers. But most men have their eyes and ears closed. They do not see the unbroken stream of tears flowing through life; they do not hear the cry of distress continually pervading the world. their own little grief or joy bars their sight, deafens their ea...

Re: Mans desires must overshadow his needs!

Lindama, I feel society has been captured by advertising to such an extent that unless you have the latest car, phone, gadget or gizmo people feel left behind almost as if they've been by passed. Of course you may not agree and many perhaps do not realise how much advertising influences their lives ...

Mans desires must overshadow his needs!

"After World War I, the industrial machine mass-producing goods for the allied troops couldn't just shut down without catastrophic losses to the big money men. This was a time when products were advertised mainly for their functionality, practicality and durability, according to the BBC documentary ...

Re: Difference between consciousness and the mind

PadmaVonSamba, Good point. Nevertheless our bodies are also beyond our control in so many ways. I have no idea what idea will pop into my mind next. I breathe automatically often completely unconscious I am doing so. My blood streams around my body and asks no permission. The heart thumps on regardl...

Re: Who are the best teachers of non-duality?

Simon E, Tony Parsons. Famously and formerly a Rajneesh follower. Actually Parsons has a bit of a closet Buddhist temperament. Tony rectifies the Self along the lines of Huang Po and a sprinkling of Dzogchen-cum-Madhyamakan theories of ultimate truth - then sells the "true Advaita" back to us repack...

As spiritual as your career

"Now capitalist enterprise headhunts and handsomely rewards those who bring their new spiritual insights into the fold. If you can "be" spiritual as your career, this is the ultimate success. A new generation of economic priests arises on every street corner. Spirituality in the marketplace is not a...

Re: Who are the best teachers of non-duality?

garudha, non-duality = unification of mind/body
duality = separation of mind/body

non-duality is not unification of mind and body, that sounds more like Hatha yoga

Re: Difference between consciousness and the mind

I guess you have to tread carefully but every subtle experience every person has ever known has been confined to their own, subjective envelope, so the difference between consciousness and mind is a tricky affair.

Re: Who are the best teachers of non-duality?

It lies beyond opposites, non duality postulates that beyond non-dual there is something else, which may be termed enlightenment, awakening, unity. Ultimately its transcendent. Many talk about it on Youtube but who will speak it?

J Khedrup, "The only place where I don't get judgements from strangers is where I am at the moment- Bharat, India, blessed Mother India" Yes I know the feeling, indeed where monks, sadhus, renunciates are held in high esteem. Where every tree, nook and cranny is used to worship the divine. Of course...

J Khedrup, 'celibate Buddhist monk' The people who have made the greatest impression on me have been monks, all of them celibate. The beauty, tranquility and laughter of these renunciates linger, stay with me long after meeting them. Don't be affected by the larger community, perhaps unthinking....w...

Re: Who are the best teachers of non-duality?

We all know non duality means one without a second. So the world and the sense of I are not separate. To wake up is to see that 'we' exist only because the mind thinks us into creation. We may meditate for years but the ripe fruit then suddenly falls from the tree. Ahhh! We may well ask why did we h...

Re: Who are the best teachers of non-duality?

Gwenn Dana, You misunderstand, I know little about these teachers....I just happened to read David Godman and this is a quote of Papaji's regarding the devotees who prematurely ambitious, went out to teach without his approval.
