Re: Predictions of Stephen Hawking

Hawking was NOT a “firm believer in extraterrestrial life”. What he said was the idea that any alien life was likely to be kindly disposed to humanity was a fantasy. He said that IF there was contact with alien life it would be more like what befell the Native Americans when they had contact with Eu...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

There are certainly organisms that migrate and “hide”. The various varicella viruses are known to do this.
But at the moment most of the data is coming from the Chinese experience and there is not enough of it to reach more than tentative conclusions.

Re: My own hypocrisy, projections, expectations, and the fault in it all

Sounds to me like you are just where you should be. In my experience (and I am not being facetious) we still remain confused, but we are confused at a higher level.

Re: The role of truth in Buddhism?

The World Honoured One called out bullshit every time he encountered it. BECAUSE he was moved by compassion.
I suggest that you start simply by googling the word “verbiage”. Then read back on your posts. And cringe.

Re: The role of truth in Buddhism?

You frequently use the word verbiage. I suspect that you do not know what that word means, and that it is frequently pejorative. But please continue to ventilate your own subjective interpretation of a Sutra which means nothing to the vast majority of Buddhists in a subforum for the general mainstre...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Two notes of caution .
1) This is all at the moment speculative.
2). This report is being interpreted and reported through the Daily Express which is the U K equivalent of Fox News ..treat accordingly.

Yes, you are right.
I am asking for the paramedical and medical teams, who are testing, not for people in the street. Doctors are asking those of construction workers. These are also limited.

I was wondering somewhere people already helped regarding this shortage.
I take your point.

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Actually it’s not clear whether the advantages of wearing masks outweigh the disadvantages. The latest research indicates a small degree of extra protection which is largely or completely outweighed by a false sense of security concerning the degree of such protection conferred, leading to careless ...
