Re: Can foreigners ordain in China?

For those seeking monastic ordination in a traditional monastery of the Chinese tradition, I can highly recommend the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in California. Although the vast majority of monastics are of Asian origin, the place has also produced several influential Western monastics including V...

Re: Schedule of HH Karmapa Urgyen Trinley

:tantrum: Would absolutely love to take such precious teachings from HHK on a practice I am really interested in. But alas, Geshe la and myself have to be back in Europe before that time as he will be starting long term teachings there. It's a real bummer. I have found HH Karmapa's teachings so bene...

Re: Still struggling...

Definitely my situation has stabilized, albeit slowly, and the obstacles of this year all sort of dissipated into a good situation. Somehow sticking it out paid off. But as far as developing as a practitioner, still loads of work to do on that. But being able to have daily interaction with a master ...

Re: Institutional Buddhism

Have had the morning free and I've been checking out Chogyal Namkhai Norbu on youtube. In one particular segment he mentions that Dzogchen Guru Yoga is enough, but since many cannot remain in such a state all the time, there are other, secondary practices. These are useful since we are in a state of...

Re: Still struggling...

Having had exposure to both the Vajrayana and Theravada traditions, (as well as shorter experience with two Chinese Mahayana communities), I can say that really I feel it comes down to what is better suited to the individual. The wonderful thing in Western Buddhism is that we have access to qualifie...

Re: Schedule of HH Karmapa Urgyen Trinley

Thanks so much for the info. I am not on Facebook so often out of the loop! I am there mid June until the end of August. The audiences are nice but teachings would be much better. Would have to travel up from Sera. Strangely often the teachings at Gyuto were not posted on the website, at least as I ...

Re: Gaden Lha Gyama

Ganden Lhagyama is essentially a guru yoga practice that is structured according to the seven limbs. The seven limbs are a universal Mahayana practice, and featured heavily in the great texts of India such as the Bodhisattvacaryavatara. The visualization and mantra recitation aspect is uniquely Gelu...

Schedule of HH Karmapa Urgyen Trinley

Dear members, I am heading to India in the middle of June and would very much like to attend some teachings with HH Karmapa if possible. While studying Tibetan in Dharamsala from 2008-2010 there were many opportunities at Gyuto to take teachings with HHK as well as occasionally jenangs. However, the...

Fantastic! Just too bad the charges being dropped will not become a front page story in the way the mistaken accusations did.

Re: SNOWLION MERGES WITH SHAMBHALA PUBLICATIONS

I guess how it works out remains to be seen. If they continue to publish wonderful quality translations
like the Lam Rim Chenmo and the volumes in the Tsadra series, I rejoice. If these types of items are
cast aside in favour of only books with mass appeal, it is unfortunate.
