Re: 3 Year Retreat led by Gangteng Tulku Feb 2013 - May 2016

How can they justify charging over 20 000 dollars in butan for a 3 year retreat....it is absolutelly ridiculous...

considering that butan is not such an expensive country compared to lets say ,.... england where samye ling monastery charges for a 4 year retreat 15 000 pounds

Advice on worldly affairs

I am a vajarayana buddhist(kagyu School) and planning to buy a house. The problem is i haven't had any success yet for 2 months in a row. In my country we don't have the culture of going to an estate agent and ask him to search for the house you want. So i decided to search for it myself by going fr...

Re: Non affirming negation

so is it then that the existence of a cup cannot be denied and those who think that they are involved in denying the exsitence of a cup are merely involved in denying the idea of a cup? I doubt it is so simple. You see, there is confusion between the cup, the idea of the cup and the perception of t...

Re: Ato Rinpoche

That is a very general and amiguous statement.

I see beyond labels-as in living among a very diverse group of nationalities-and that doesn't make me special.

Lots of people see beyond labels and are not bothered by diversity and variety.

I need more than that.

Re: Ato Rinpoche

you are right...he could well be one of those who are not interested in prizes and building huge comunities

there are so many teachers nowadays who are involved in empire-building works and you as a disciple end up marginalized and are given 3 minutes to talk to your teacher every two years ..

Re: many questions about Rainbow body - help please

i have heard someone saying that there is also another type of buddhahood which is called the "light body" .

if there is such a thing it would be very interesting to know what would be the qualitative difference ,so to speak ,between the two.

Re: Practices for beginners in each tradition

For a beginner like me the most important practices are the ones which give me energy for practice, for ex.the four thoughts.

And then is the shinay and the generation of bodhicitta.

some while back i have heard someone mentioning on a different forum the fact that in france there are a few practitioners(maybe kagyu) who took vows to remain in retreat for the rest of their life.

can anyone confirm that?
i would really appreciate any info on the subject.
