Re: Benefits of Prayer Wheels by Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche

As many mantras as possible should be inside. These days some people are using Microfilm, which no master has seemed to have objected to yet.

Well, since some of the posters here have included teachings of Guru Rinpoche, Lhatsun namkha jigme, referenced Dudjom Rinpoche, and Jigme lingpa. Maybe someone could provide some supporting quotes of eminent teachers who say that obscuration is not something important to pay attention to? ...

Re: Vajrayana purification split from "Second hand mandala offering set"

Frankly I find it depressing that after shedding centuries of medieval superstition we now see people eagerly embracing superstition because it comes in exotic packaging. Well, that's the difference between taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, Lama, Yidam, Khandro, vs taking refuge in ones ...

Re: Vajrayana purification split from "Second hand mandala offering set"

Kriya level tantra is great. You have to start somewhere. But eventually all this ritual purity becomes an obstacle. https://studybuddhism.com/en/advanced-studies/vajrayana/tantra-theory/the-differences-among-the-four-classes-of-tantra We're not talking about Kriya Yoga, that is a whole other kind ...

Re: Vajrayana purification split from "Second hand mandala offering set"

Purifying a new pair of underwear bought at the department store is, IMO, not necessary. Offering those underwear to the Guru and the Three Jewels, that's another matter altogether. There's nothing negative about that. It's remembering the Guru first in all things and making merit for all sentient ...

Re: Are there any students of Gangteng Rinpoche here?

One is typically given the Peling Ngondro, Aka the Kunzang Gongdu Ngondro at the onset once it is asked for. Rinpoche has kindly consented to allow students to join the Dzogchen cycle of the Kunzang gongdu, (Rushen, Trekcho, and Thogal) after someone has completed 10,000 of each section with the und...

Re: Vajrayana purification split from "Second hand mandala offering set"

Stuff like this put me off of Vajrayana for a long time. I mean, I had no interest in becoming a Medieval Tibetan and still have no interest. I suppose it is fine for those who want it, but for those who don't, the Vajrayana tent is a big one. There are very old school lamas with jokes that are at ...

Re: Sit-down with Dudjom Lineage Lama

Longchen Rabjam was offering tshog entirely based on the power of His samadhi. However, Ekadzati appeared before Longchenpa and told Him that, if it was at all possible, even He should make the effort to make material offerings. The point being, if Longchenpa was told by Ekadzati to still make mate...

Re: Second hand mandala offering set

Johnny, You make good points. So purify everything. Or don't purify anything. There is another slightly less OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) Vajrayana option where you realise you are the deity, all beings are your mandala, all sounds are mantra, all smells etc... That would be the serious mist...

Re: Diana Mukpo’s potent letter re: Shambhala

Copy-pasting these views and attitudes from one culture to another will just not do. It is not about culture, this is the Vajrayana path, if you do not like it practice the Mahayana, I'm not sure why people endlessly go on about it. It was the same in India, it was the same when it went to Tibet, i...

Re: Diana Mukpo’s potent letter re: Shambhala

dzongsar khyentse rinpoche-la makes it clear in the guru drinks bourbon? that it depends more on the student's view than the teacher's wisdom. what if these 'questionable' teachers really are sacrificing all their worldly renown and so on in order to greatly benefit those who have various degrees o...

Re: Diana Mukpo’s potent letter re: Shambhala

I've said it before (and been criticized for it), but I'll say it again. Vajrayana is inherently dangerous and is not, as it says in the Tantras themselves, for everyone. "Caveat emptor, buyer beware." Speed and safety don't go together even on the mundane level. I don't believe that the Vajrayana ...

Re: three year retreat experiences?

IMHO people who wish to undertake a three year retreat should have previous retreat experience before deciding. Initially 1 month, then 3, then 6, if they fare well then continue. I am in complete agreement with my late teacher about this point. If you have ever met 3year Retreatants you will reali...

Re: malas (again)

None of this matters. Guru Rinpoche seemed to think it did, that's why he taught on this subject. Tendrel is a very important aspect of Vajrayana, to say none of this matters frankly sounds very Dzogchen of the mouth-ish. As always. My interest in your opinion of my posts is non-existent. Im well a...
