BORN TO SERVE the Enthronement of Tulku Urgyen Yangsi

Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was one of the most remarkable teachers and an authority within the Tibetan tradition. While most monasteries kept their doors closed to westerners in the ‘60s, he hospitably opened his doors to them in Kathmandu. Many a fortune seeker met with an unusual and not always equall...

The Oracle

A fascinating documentary on the Nechung Oracle. The astounding succes of scientific empiricism over the last 300 years has left us a reality that is, in many ways, much poorer than the magical universe it replaced. A whole menagerie of supernatural beings has become extinct from the ontological lan...

Re: Empowerments within empowerments

Nangwa wrote:I think KT is mistaken for the most part.
I thought this would be the case, but the notion of one empowerment/permission being within the other was interesting.

The fact that some of the mantras being wrong and that I'd never heard of such a thing before made me doubt it.

Free (legal) music

There's tons and tons of free music out there to be dowloaded. Here's a great podcast by Surgeon - a very good techno set. Tons of podcasts there. Rolling Funk by Myagi (breaks). Deepmix Moscow Radio - long dubtech-type sets from some Russian collective. orgMarko Fürstenberg's Megamix - excellent du...

Empowerments within empowerments

I read this post while browsing the web and I'd be interested to know if it's true that there are permissions for various deities' mantras etc. containted within an empowerment for another deity. I know for instance that Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche consideres that his empowerments are also the wangs for...

Re: Yidam and Dzogchen

Dzogchen is the path and the fruit at the same time. Personally, I agree with this. From the 13th Karmapa: [A]s far as the meditation of Mahamudra is concerned, It is not asserted as being something different from the view. Therefore Dzogchen is Rigpa and is without any other needs ... other is Ma-...

Re: Yidam and Dzogchen

I am happy that you reached realization, but for the rest of us I think this is the right quote; I copied the wrong part. The Yidam is Dzogchen. Something I read yesterday about this, written by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche: The main purpose for practising the various manifestations of the Sambogakaya is...

Re: Yidam and Dzogchen

From http://www.rigpawiki.org/index.php?title=Yidam" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; On one occasion, I asked Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, “Is it necessary for someone with realization to recite prayers and mantras?” And he replied, “Someone who has that kind of realisation is like space. ...

Re: Be honest

Honestly, what's better than coffee and good Dharma conversation, seriously? Kevin the great master Padmasambhava, who was like a second buddha, said this: Outwardly, practise according to the sutras, Be meticulous about cause and effect, and what you adopt or avoid. Inwardly, practise according to...

Re: where to go to seek confirmation of attainment?

I may be committing a bit of a faux pas to mention this, since the site I'm linking to is primarily involved with Theravadin methodologies, but you might go take a look around at http://www.dharmaoverground.org . There are people there that specialize in looking at where you are in your practice, a...

What do you think he meant - 1. The mind has no inherent existence 2. The mind has no existence at all ? Two quotes from Thrangu Rinpoche: Question: In this process of looking, the scrutiny, when you have some direct experience that there is nothing there to find, you follow with the next step of i...
