Good news: Avatar the Last Airbender is back on (the cartoon). Very entertaining, with a dash of Buddhist philosophy thrown in.
Yes, my boys loved it very much - and I could stand it, which is saying something.

Re: Question on role of samaya in multiple empowerments

I had a similar question to my Tibetan teacher. He said, all Buddha's are the same. There is no competition amongst them. And he recommended to practice only one diety a day. (But that's difficult for me.) Maybe you should also try to ask the teacher who gave the initiation. Or ask any senior fellow...

I think, in history there were cruel parents and those who loved their children as well. Everything one can say about THE people in general must be true and false at the same time.

I've merged the new thread "Essential & Useful Reading on Abhidharma and Prajnaparamita/Madhyamaka" - which started here viewtopic.php?f=39&t=17#p530785 - with this old sticked thread "Mahayana/Vajrayana Links and Recources"

I hope you respect this specific subforum and refrain from disparaging speech against other people's venerable teachers. :juggling: Please accept if other members disagree. On my search I found at least one article about the specific role of trees in Buddha's life. It doesn't dare to talk about sent...

Re: My sister and I

Hello Roro, the buddhist way to deal with it is nothing one can apply intellectually. One has to practice buddhist thinking and behavior for a long time in order to be able to apply it. And it's not easy to give a fitting advice since nobody here knows you, your sister or your mum. Therefore you can...

If 183 words of mine are total BS, it's probably better for them to be deleted. So I requested the Admin.
@heart -Be so kind and also delete the quotation of mine.

I come to understand why there's such a big quota of "silent readers" in this forum...
I removed those regarding posts.

If you want to know about Tantra teachings, you cannot find valid discourse here. People vowed not to talk about it.

Re: Alan Wallace: Dzogchen, COVID-19 & the prophecy received by Dudjom Lingpa

Buddhism is the only religion I ever had, thanks to my parents. I don't see anyone practice even shamata in monotheistic religions so you would have to invent something new even on that level. /magnus You don't see because you choose not to see. Christianity has shamatha, mantra recitation as well ...

Re: Namkhai Norbu Chod text

You're the third person this week who asks for this practice text. This means, you are asking publicly for pirated restricted material. I think it would be a better solution to ask at Tara Mandala directly. If you have to pay for the paper you can be sure you're supporting a Dharma center who has to...

Re: Responding to praise and compliments

Yes, it depends on the circumstances. I have three kinds of reaction: Either I emphasize on my minor qualities in order to balance the person into a realistic view - if someone praises my character. Or if someone just wanted to be friendly, I simply say "Thank you" and move forward to another topic....

Re: The sense in long rituals for non-Tibetans?

... I don't believe westerners should be forced to practice outside of their native language. Occasional rituals that maintain their traditional Tibetan chanting is one thing (and I admit can be quite powerful provided their translation is provided to facilitate understanding), but to ask people to...
