Re: The beauty of covid-19

And this is what has me worried. If this is a wake-up call by the Mamos, I don't think it's being heard. If it's not heard, I can only assume the Mamos will send us an even louder message. Covid-19 may pale in comparison. Shudder the thought. Most of human history is riddled with diseases that are ...

Re: The beauty of covid-19

I suppose this Coronavirus epidemic event has been very effective at highlighting the horrible destructive pollution & waste generated from modern day human "capitalistic" & "monetary-wealth" obsessed cultures and societies? Don't worry, we will forget the lessons soon enough. A colleague of mine w...

Re: The World’s First Poor Rich Country

Well, if this shutdown lasts months, maybe I'll take a look. In the meantime, dharma study seems more pragmatic. I admit I don't know much about Marx or much political theory outside of what I learned in school and bits and pieces I picked up. That's neither here nor there, though. I have a lifetim...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

My wife was cleared for work since her fever subsided and has not been given a test. She informed me they have to reuse equipment. Apparently community hospitals are the ones short on supply as visiting doctors from private hospitals tell of sufficient supplies. Thankfully I have a friend who works...

Re: The World’s First Poor Rich Country

State, regional elections are nowhere near the spectacle of national elections, and actually often achieve something. The result is that states differ substantially in how well they have been able to mitigate the effects of 30 years or so of neoliberal austerity, destruction of social safety net et...

Re: The World’s First Poor Rich Country

How else to explain the tendency of so called liberals to justify the system of oppression? The political system is so skewed in the U$ that what passes as liberal there would be considered mainstream center-Right in Europe. Oh yes, definitely. I mean our most succesful ex-minister of finances (tha...

Wow, thank you!
Your welcome.
Know how to access the restricted teachings on that site? It looks like all they'd require is DI transmission.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Anyone else watching the replay of the 2015 retreat on the website? It was nice of them to put it up, I hope they do that for more past retreat recordings I'm confused about where to access it. Just through the main DC site? Nevermind, found it. Anyway it's a great thing, and I wish they would do m...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Hi. The DC has a new 'Sangha' app giving events information etc. In order to set it up you need an 'invitation code'. If anyone knows it, please could you PM it to me, as the alternative of visiting a Centre is unlikely to be on my 'to do' list for some weeks. Same problem, same request - if anyone...

Re: Tsa Lung and Guru Yoga in the Bön tradition vs Tibetan Buddhism

Maybe it's worth exploring here, my understanding is that Dzogchen as such is really not a wide range of practices, but an approach of view which can involve whatever practice, the state of Dzogchen is not dependent on particular forms or teaching structures. Tsa Lung practices in fact belong typica...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Nemo, you might be right though not quite in the way you thought... I've read two posts today that mention that people in Wuhan/Hubei don't believe only 2500 of them died. By their estimates based on how much their crematoriums are working right now (and the amount of urns bought/used) the real dea...

Re: Tsa Lung and Guru Yoga in the Bön tradition vs Tibetan Buddhism

I think the answer is pretty individual, but in my experience Bonpo teachers are far less restrictive than Vajrayana teachers regarding "higher" practices and secrecy. Sometimes shockingly so, from a Vajrayana standpoint. The Tsa Lung TWR teaches is worth learning, it is totally unrestricted. I woul...

Ocean of Compassion PDF

I helped organize our group practice on Zoom, most of us have a personal copy of the text for years. Now we have new people wanting to join the Zoom sessions who have no sadahana. Does anyone have a PDF copy of this practice? I can ask Sakya monastery too but I was hoping someone here might have it.
