Ocean of Compassion PDF

I helped organize our group practice on Zoom, most of us have a personal copy of the text for years. Now we have new people wanting to join the Zoom sessions who have no sadahana. Does anyone have a PDF copy of this practice? I can ask Sakya monastery too but I was hoping someone here might have it.

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Wife is a ER nurse on LI NY and yesterday she had to put another ER nurse to ICU. 44 and no prior health problems and on the brink of death. She said it is starting to get overwhelming and the next 3 weeks will be very rough. I have been doing my best to stay away. Your wife is a hero. This. Seriou...

Re: The Great Abortion Debate

Opposing abortion personally and politically are two different animals. Especially if one lives in the US. The question is not simply opposition to abortion, but whether one supports policies which ultimately lessen the need for it. This being the case, it's easy to see that it is quite a grey area ...

Re: The Great Abortion Debate

Whether abortion is legal or not, women will continue to seek abortions. Where it is outlawed, or where access to abortion is restricted, women’s lives are placed in danger. So, one either chooses to understand that women need to be able to make this choice on their own, and wrestle with their own ...

Re: Dharma Centers Going Temporarily Virtual

I did my first puja as English umzed and Zoom host (Lama is the Tibetan umzed). It's tough because you cannot sing together. I had to mute and unmute myself constantly so that my mic did not interrupt the Lama's chanting in Tibetan after or before I'd finished the English. Everyone else had to be m...

Re: Alan Watts

With all due respect, Meido, you say that you’re not very familiar with the man yet claim to know what practices he had done. Can you clarify? I have no idea what practices, if any, Watts did do, and have not claimed so. But certainly, any of us can say what he didn't do. This is because Watts says...

Re: Alan Watts

Interesting guy, but always struck me as just a few steps up from Jack Kerouac in terms of learning about Zen. An analogy would be someone in the Tibetan traditions opening a book with something like "Tibetan Buddhism is a hybrid of Buddhism and the indigenous Bon tradition". This is a thing people ...

Re: Are there any importers or forwarders on here?

I think that all the news reports and all that could have their own thread, right ? this thread is about "What are you doing about the coronavirus?" I'm interested in whats happening with our fellow dharmawheelers. How is all this effecting you lately? Anybody been tested for virus ? How long did i...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Seeing the Ran Paul thing, these creeps talking about reopening the economy, and seeing firsthand the behavior of average people in grocery stores, denying social distancing on purpose because "you can't tell me what to do"...all these things make me incredibly disgusted with my country at the momen...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

I usually balk at comparing average right wingers to Nazis, but now we have people saying that essentially we should kill off a percentage of the population for the economy...absolutely disgusting. The best part is that so many of these guys claim to be Christians...what would Jesus do? I guess he'd...

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Still think it's a conspiracy theory Sādhaka? Virgo Math is hard. When multiple countries are losing over 1000 a day he should wake up. Yesterday Italy lost 793 to Covid 19. To put that in perspective on average they lost 28 a day to the flu. Now all other medical interventions are suspended for th...

Re: Why are some people so indecisive about which religion they believe in?

My understanding is that staying the course and following the Lotus Sutra is quite difficult. What advice would you give a person who keeps jumping at every other interesting religion? If a person finds something in Nichiren Buddhism that works and that they feel is true, why would they keep jumpin...

Confusion and befuddlement is the default state of samsara.

I actually had a pretty bad cold two weeks ago before the shutdowns began, I stayed home, part of me wonders if I’ve already had it... but it seems unlikely.

Re: What are you doing about the coronavirus?

Not in quarantine, but I'm in Washington and it's crazy. Streets are deserted like so many places now...it's a new reality, that's for sure. At least in my town, everyone but a few millennials seem to be following the protocols. I personally expect I will may get the virus at some point, and my fami...
