Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

Thank you, but with all respect, It is just illogical for me, Suit yourself, I myself prefer to follow what Indian Mādhyamikas, who were capable of debating with actual Yogacara masters, have to say about the matter. However as Karl Brunnhölzl in "The Center" discovered: ... as a very rough outline,...

Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

This statement simply ignores and betrays ignorance of the entire history of tenet system literature in India as well as Tibet. M I've already read english books which I always quoted here. Of course I will be happy If you again present some new quotes in question. Thanx Yes, you have read books in...

Re: Dzogchen in English

There are many genuine Nyinthig guidance books of Dzogchen: -as Ngetön Tenzin Zangpo’s The Excellent Chariot, issues from this unbroken lineage. As one of the most beautiful and lucid explanations of the Heart Essence of the Dakinis, it provides invaluable guidance for practitioners of the Dzogchen ...

Re: Gelug View of Dzogchen?

:namaste: It depends which Gelug. Within this school there has always been two camps. The liberal camp, championed by successive Dalai Lamas, is Rime and so open to all traditions, whereas the conservative camp, exemplified by Pabongka and Co. would be very happy if the other schools simply withere...

Re: Gelug View of Dzogchen?

It seems to me the common assertions in Gelug centers in the West are similar to what you have been arguing for here - that the main Gelug practices for busy westerners are Lam Rim and VY and Yamantaka as Yidams. When one see such beautiful very detailed english guide for their practice even in int...

Re: Yogacara and dzogchen

A quote from Patrul Rinpoché http://yeshekhorlo.mahajana.net/2012/09/26/the-transmission-lineage-of-dzogchen/ : This is also necessary in this vajra essence vehicle, the heart essence of the Natural Great Perfection. Re: Gelug View of Dzogchen?

I don't think that you will see a widespread acceptance of Dzogchen as the pinnacle of all in the Gelug monasteries Even in Sakya it is not so now, although Sakya arose from Nyingma (the ancient sources) since the start and Dzogchen already was there! Now we are in the West, where everything is pos...

Re: Gelug View of Dzogchen?

Mariusz, yes there was criticism due to this, and that is also why many of the works in the tibetan tradition trace the khungs (source) of their topic to a particular Sanskrit source. But things change and evolve constantly. If we were to strictly follow this paradigm of Buton Rinchen Drub, for exa...

Re: Gelug View of Dzogchen?

Buton Rinczen Drup (1290-1364 r. n.e.) made the collection of scripture generally known as the Old Nartang (snar thang) edition of the Kangyur (bka' 'gyur) and Tengyur (bstan 'gyur). In it He did not include such things as termas of Inner Tantras and other Tantras of Dzogchen because they seem to be...

Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

If one can see my quotes from Vasubandhu and Buddha in this way, of course it is not a big problem. Tsongkhapa and others innovators used to like to see them this way of course. Tsongkhapa, etc., is not an innovator in the slightest -- the innovators are people like Dolbupa etc., who have invented ...

Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

It would be more accurate to say that Dzogchen finds the doctrine of the dependent nature faulty. The fault for which the yogacara school is criticized is the assertion the dependent nature is ultimate. The dependent arising nature (依他起性 paratantra-svabhāva) is not considered the same as the absolu...

Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

..in ..common mahayana, only the body (ground) is beyond cause and effect, since both the perfuming (subject) and perfumed (object) are unrelated to it. However, the bodhi is not on the side of the body but on the side of means (jnana), and it is responsive to the perfuming (subject) and perfumed (...

Re: Is Dzogchen really beyond cause and effect?

Ha!!! Even for a Centrist (a madhyamika) there is never need of "production" of what was never in the first place. "Cause and effect" works only from deceiving perspective of sentient beings as merely a "antidote, medicine" used by a madhyamika in order to cure them: http://www.lamrimnotes.webs.com/...
