Re: Tibetan madhyamaka

Madhyamaka is the understanding that emptiness is dependent origination. :)Of course it is. But there are subtle and more subtle topics on it. For example: dependent origination - because everything appearing yet being empty and in the same time everything being empty yet appearing. This may be exp...

Re: Tibetan madhyamaka

I'm reading recently books about the yogacara-madhyamaka version of Ju Mipham. Ju Mipham linked it with the terminology of dzogchen when Kadak and Lhundrub are used at the final explanation. Do you think if Mipham is the best because iluminating all teachings of the Buddha (9 yanas) with reference t...

Re: Yidam and Dzogchen

I can't say more about Rushen because it is very secret practice for the i...

but for example in the book of Karl Brunnholzl (...Madhyamaka in the Kagyu, page 563) it is said: ...In search of scriptural authority in Indian Centrist texts Tsongkhapa runs into a further problem, because the topic of identifying an object of negation (let alone differentiating it in terms Svatan...

Re: Tibetan Myth of Chan

well-renowned: ...Very funny – the Tibetans, most of them don’t and haven’t studied this Zen tradition. They aren’t familiar with it. There was very famous meeting between a Zen master and I believe it was Kalu Rinpoche, in which the Zen master held up an orange and said “What is it?” and Kalu Rinpo...

...and system on Buddha Nature of Asanga and Vasubandhu do not contradict Madhyamaka of Nagarjuna and Aryadeva but is the supplement for it. These both should be studied. Shantarakshita, a indian pandita from original Nalanda, is an example of one among the best commentators who did it and mastered....

:focus: on original Madhyamaka :buddha1: I forget to mention that Khenpo Rinpoche said in original India progressive meditations on emptiness used to be standart preparations for such practices as Mahamudra. Not only original Madhyamaka of Nagarjuna and Aryadeva, but also system on Buddha Nature of ...

Re: Tibetan madhyamaka

Hi mindyourmind. I've received some instructions in so called true Kagyu style for just practice. I mean these from Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and His students, that said "more effective for practice are progressive meditations on emptiness than Ngondro. Ngondro are mainly for accummulation of...

Re: Tibetan madhyamaka

Hi Nangwa. The book which I mentioned above seems to cherish 8. Karmapa Mikyo Dorje as the best commentator on Madhyamaka. It is based mainly on His work "The chariot of the Tagbo Siddhas". 8. Karmapa, as I understand this book, agrees in most parts with Gorampa. What book of Gorampa do you recommen...

Tibetan madhyamaka

I'd like to start a discussion about tibetan development of madhyamaka. According to books there are many modifications in Tibetan Buddhism, such the distinction between svatantrika and prasangika, which were not emphasised in original India at all, such marginalization of Buddha Nature teachings li...
