Re: Please help me to identify who is in this Thangka

I was given a beautiful thangka as a gift and it doesn't have any meaning to me yet. Perhaps its not the right place to post, but I heard you are the people to ask! Please tell me: Who is the figure? I assume it is a form of Buddha, but which one particularly? Do you know its origin - Tibet? Nepal?...

Re: Wake up call

Ok so a vajra sibling posted this elsewhere. And the request was made by Rinpoche himself, to quote him on it, so out goes this little note. Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche said today in front of a large group of about 800 practitioners, that he thinks the young Tibetan lineage holders coming up...

Re: Jobs for Western Chod Practitioners

Yes, apparently one may be susceptible to the obscurations of those whose corpses you're in contact with. . . but you know, even those in the healing arts professions may be susceptible to a similar issue with their patients. Yes, or even the obscurations of all the corpses we come in contact with ...

Re: Pema Khandro?

The previous posts have pretty much covered pros and cons. I met the woman in question once, more than ten years ago, and she seemed interesting but by no means a qualified Vajrayana teacher. Her website at that time was full of complete drivel. She may very well have absorbed enough of the teachin...

Re: Is Dzogchen only accidentally Buddhist?

In the end, I am afraid that the Sakya master, Dezhung Ajam ( a disciple of Adzom Drugpa) was right, many people who claim to be Dzogchen practitioners are like people whose bodies are separated from their heads — in other words, their "Dzogchen" is just intellectual theory. Sadly, we see many such...

Thanks to the women laureates it was cancelled. Desmond Tutu didn't cancel his visit I read. Wonder where it will be held now.

Yeah, but that is hard. I don't think that would work with Tibetan politics. Lower visits higher so that would weaken his case significantly.

Good post Cone.

And, nowadays, one could just pick up the phone and say: "Please stop messing with my monasteries. If the Chinese are behind this, forget I called. "

Re: How Tibetans really feel about the occupation

Friend of mine is in Tibet at the moment. This is what he said: There is less military walking around that I can see, but there are security posts with X-ray machines at every entryway into the Barkhor. All the stalls have been completely removed from the Barkhor too, and transplanted to a 3-story b...

You can do the Christian pilgrimages and imagine/realize the Mary shrines are Tara. The Camina is one I would like to do.

There are indeed many good western female practitioners. There are also many charlatans. Just like there many charlatan Rinpoches. Sometimes they find each other and a whole new way of defrauding innocent is born.
So, no disrespect to women. One of my teachers is a woman.

Re: The practices of the base of santi maha sangha

Bob,

I was wondering how much time you spend in formal meditation these days. Seems like you have done a lot of practice and retreat. Now that you are a little older, how much are you still able to do?

Many thanks,

Clarence
