Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

I am surprised no one got back to the THREE drupons that got stroked out of the retreat. If we follow traditional paradigm, there are some serious Samaya issues going on there. Not necessarily. Could you elaborate? I always heard strokes in comparison with practice means Samaya issues. Of course, n...

And they should be between the ages of 16 and 26, since the channels, cakras and elements begin to deteriorate after this point. What about all those old Lama's taking on young consorts? Often after never having done consort practice before. Does that mean the purpose is different for them or are t...

Re: Jigme Lingpa's mystical pranayama experience

OK, I assume those are the standard colors. Is the white one actually white? The best think you can do is practice prāṇāyama yourself and discover this experientially. I can tell you what the texts say, but I have no personal experience with this. M So, even after a three year Lamdre retreat one sh...

I must say that I have enjoyed seeing Malcolm's views change and morph over the years.

Malcolm, doesn't your current thinking runs counter to what CNN says in all his webcasts?

Soon you will tell us Ngondro is indispensible to practice Dzogchen.

;) Sönam would have a heart attack.

Re: Family lineages vs tulku system vs "meritocracy"

What is lacking for lay people is a decent education in the basics of Buddhadharma. As I get older I can see that there is limited benefit to Varjayāna practice without some grounding, either prior too or simultaneously, in Sutrayāna teachings. There is any number of very good Sakya Khenpos. Basica...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YVjohDXxC0 Somewhat off-topic, but I hope you'll forgive me... I notice again and again when watching longtime meditators speak, that their breathing is often quite bad. Like with Rinpoche here, you can easily observe the gasping for air and lifting of the upper part...

What about Daoist influences on Dzogchen? Are there any or is that also speculation? They have those age-less masters and so on.

Are downloading and streaming used interchangeably or are they considered two different phenomena? I stream but mostly don't download. :-)
