Re: A better world

I'm interested in this. Not to derail the thread, but I've certainly noticed a difference between normal contrails and what appear to be billowing lines across the sky that eventually spread into a haze. I grew up near two international airports. There were also military aircraft in the area. Contr...

Re: Is Tibetan Buddhism against panpsychism, or is Wikipedia wrong?

Ultimately the western philosopher wants to get to an ideal and logically sound description of reality, the Buddhist on the other hand wants out of samsara and their description of reality are ultimately not taken as being ultimate but are merely soteriologically useful tools. Very good point. We u...

Re: Curious about this white mahakala yab yum

very special here f.e.: the Yum has the kapala in the right hand....... Ganesh is on top....... I was thinking the same. It could be a very obscure Gelugpa lineage but the combination of those figures and others (e.g. a two-armed Kurukulle, one of the four heavenly kings, a green Tara, etc.) seems ...

Re: Fantasy

There are many places where if you help someone who has suffered an accident, you run a material risk of being held financially responsible for the accident itself. I don’t know if that’s the case in Nepal but it’s certainly the case, or perceived to be the case in several other countries. So the re...

Re: Illusion in Dzogchen

That is different from Gandalf being wise enough to see the suffering Saurons rule would bring. The conduct of a Dzogchen practitioner is based on the view and an understanding of the circumstances of beings. Even Gandalf and Sauron were still caught in the cycle of Samsara. The only one that might...

Re: Ole Nydahl´s sectarian meltdown

Well I may be wrong of course - but the impression I get from reading the early days of lineages and the Tibetan/Indian culture and so on - is that the limitations of travel and communication meant that most practitioners had a fairly narrow range of choice in either the sect or individual teacher....

Re: Beginning

My first question is, as a pure practitioner, how should one consume food? With neither attachment nor aversion - but if one can do that, then you're doing very well. Greg gives very good advice on this. Could I suggest also reading the seven-point mind training text. There is a lot in there about ...

Re: Nechung Kuten Recognizes Yeye Omileye

Take away all perceived cultural categories and designations an enlightened person just might see the inter-relatedness of all religions, deities, and outer projections of dharmakya. I am an Egyptian Wiccan so I think this is funny. I would like to mix Buddhism with Egyptian deities but they are ho...

A better world is also without chem trails. Chem trails contain substances which are bad for health. there are many good ideas in this thread so far. however: chemtrails do not exist. They are fiction. I'm interested in this. Not to derail the thread, but I've certainly noticed a difference between...

True, we don't know if she is into the blood sacrificing rituals....but if this is her religion....it's all connected... The only thing that got me so wound up in this discussion was because people were acting so negatively, and thinking she was a scammer/fraud/ignorant.....when there wasn't empiri...

Perhaps Zhi Lam Drä Bu is a bad German attempt at saying teaching on the Ground, Path, and Fruit according to Dzogchen View? Zhi, base. Lam, path. Drä maybe like "Lam 'bras" path and fruit. To bad no Nyingthik Yabshi! Anybody have 2cents to say about Yumkha Dechen Gyalmo Wang? Any unique features e...

It's also not very culturally appropriate: why can't they have Russia-specific yidams? If Horus can be repurposed as an Afro-Tibetan yidam, surely there must be Russian equivalents. Bear-headed dakinis? Chenrezig holding a hammer and a sickle seated on a red star? Guru yoga of Rasputin in union wit...

Does anyone have any advice given by great masters or rinpoche on their advice for Shamatha meditation? I’m currently doing it on a daily basis. Also , what does Shamatha aim to achieve ultimately ? Yes, it seems supremely logical to me that since you have spent so many years honing your concentrat...

Re: Nechung Kuten Recognizes Yeye Omileye

What got me in her post which is now taken down was she equivocated any criticism of her recognition as a Buddha as being a result of underlying white supremacy. As if there isn't a plentitude of genuine reasons not remotely related to racism why her claim to being the first female Buddha in modern...
