Re: People who choose dharma as a career.

Actually in this case I was thinking of people who's job is to boost the online presence of their organization. Some promote an organization, some promote their teacher, some just promote themselves and their own opinions but on an internet forum that's not really so surprising, more to be expected...

Re: Really personal question

The more powerful method is when the woman can take in the energy and raise it to the heart and then send it back to the man as heart/love energy. The couple can then form an ongoing energy "loop" that can take one to unbelievable heights (and no one ever gets tired. :-)). In Buddhist terms it is o...

Disenchantment with samsara is a very important point in all of Buddha's teachings and there's a good reason he taught the truth of suffering first.
No renunciation = no liberation.

Re: Sex and the Lama

What do any of these comments have to do with my OP? And as I said earlier: On other forums Gavin Kilty's essay might have provoked a mature discussion about a problem many believe is a threat to the credibility of dharma in the west. Not here though. I think that's a bit sad. This thread has become...

Re: Sex and the Lama

Maybe there aren't many women posting on this issue because, contrary to what the illusionists would have us believe, we Vajrayanettes aren't in fact being haplessly seduced in droves by our teachers, but are rather sitting through years of their completely-clothed commentary on Nagarjuna like anyo...

Re: Sex and the Lama

I agree with you to an extent. However H.H. the Dalai Lama himself has spoken quite openly and very clearly about Karmamudra. Perhaps we'll examine some of what he has said about it, citing Berzin-Archives and some of the books by H.H. the Dalai Lama. Also, I have received instructions on Sexual Yo...

Re: Sex and the Lama

By the way Tilopa, my previous comment was not directed at you I know and nor was mine directed specifically at your post. Anyhow, ideally anyone, Lama or not, would practice Karmamudra or Sexual Yoga with only one consort, until they attain the level of being able to practice with consorts other t...

Re: Sex and the Lama

1. Each person (lama) should avoid even the appearance of wrong-doing. 2. Each person (lama) is responsible not only for his/her own reputation, but also for that of the organization (Buddhism in general/Tibetan Buddhism more specifically/the lama's immediate lineage in particular). In my opinion, ...

Here is a thoughtful and intelligent essay on lamas and sexual abuse:

Re: Anti-Tibetan Buddhism Signs

We can't criticize a teaching when the people in them do heinous things that have nothing to do with the spirit of the teachings. We can criticize the people doing the heinous things and work to not let those things occur as easily. But it's nothing that will ever be completely solved so long as ig...

Re: Anti-Tibetan Buddhism Signs

From a traditional Chinese Buddhist POV I can understand their concerns and have some sympathy for them. We all know there have been numerous sex scandals involving lamas and these aren't confined to the West so to some extent the criticisms are justified but it's a shame the profound methods of Hig...

Re: Using buddhism to sell stuff

Again, the problem is not donations or buying/selling stuff. The problem is that the medicinebuddha site looks like a LOT commercial. They show themselves on such a way that it seems more like a shop. It is. It's the digital dharma archive section of the Land of Medicine Buddha website (http://www....
