Re: Information on Sarasvati

You're not rambling or crazy. I've had Ganapati communicate with me once or twice. Some people are just naturally attuned to other realms. I vaguely recall hearing somewhere from someone who seemed to know what they were talking about that if one honored Saraswati, one should also honor Lakshmi too...

Re: Information on Sarasvati

OK, so how did you identify her as Saraswati? LOL....it took a long time before I was able to pin it down. When I decided to figure out what I was spiritually, I prayed to anyone who I thought might listen, including Benzaiten, who is the Japanese version of Sarasvati. So it's not like she just sho...

Re: Translations of the Lotus Sutra

Wow. This thread has been so informative. I have both the Reeves translation and the Soothill revision of the Kato translation. I'm afraid to admit that I absolutely cannot stand to read the Reeves translation. The language simply doesn't flow. Part of this is his word choices. As a mythology and fo...

Re: Information on Sarasvati

Thank you for the picture. What a fabulous garland she has! I'm afraid I don't see her. I feel her, often. Usually just a sense of "presence." The communication itself is kind of hard to describe. It's not "voices in my head" - let me get that right out of the way. It's like she uses my own wiring t...

Re: Information on Sarasvati

The Terton Cho-kyi Gocha revealed a Red Saraswati terma which includes the 21 Taras, Kurukulle, and Red Manjusri. It is a very special sadhana. Lama Dawa Choddak bestows the wang (empowerment), lung (reading transmission), and tri (oral commentary) for this sadhana. The entire cycle also contains W...

Re: Hello. *peeks out from behind Sarasvati*

Oooh....lots of friends of Sarasvati here. I love it! I also frequent a pagan forum (this is how I found you; a Buddhist member posted a link with laudatory comments) and I'm the only one involved with Sarasvati.

Re: Information on Sarasvati

Thank you everyone! I normally write poems to her, and after I wrote the last one, I had....an experience. Not sure how to describe it. I just..."got it." Like, I understood EVERYTHING that I'd been trying to figure out from my readings. Then of course, it went away, and I was back to square one...

Information on Sarasvati

Please? *peeks out from behind large stack of books* :reading: I did a search for her here and came up with very little. I found that she is considered an enlightened being in Tibetan Buddhism (which makes me sooooo happy. Like this guy. > :woohoo: ) I've read her chapter in the Golden Light Sutra, ...

Re: Tendai and Pretend-ai

That's kind of what upsets me - the black and white thinking. There are problems with every world religion, because they all have to deal with less-than spiritual people and the mundane snarls of everyday life, and both of those things have a tendency to get really, really messy and interfere with t...

Re: Tendai and Pretend-ai

This is how they put it in one of the websites linked to the one above: "The Tendai is in Japan, a "broken chain". The teachings of the Lotus Sutra are denigrated by this institution, which under the guise of reverence do more studying. The monks eat meat and drink intoxicating drinks. The precepts...

Re: Pictures from Japan - my first topic

I also stumbled into the Zoujuji...almost literally stumbled. I was walking down a side street and saw a line of tiny Jizou statues through an overgrown fence. Immediately I felt a pull. MUST GO THERE. I found an entrance (a back entrance, as it turned out. Not the massive, antique Main Gate that is...

Pictures from Japan - my first topic

Hello all. I went to Japan this summer as a student. While most of my classmates spent their free time enjoying the fact that Japanese bartenders will not card foreigners, I got acquainted with the kami and Buddhas. My stay in Japan left me a changed person, and I've come back to the States with a y...

Re: Hello. *peeks out from behind Sarasvati*

Yes, actually. I was able to track down an affordable copy of the Golden Light sutra, thanks to a non-profit called Pariyatti.org. They were selling copies through Amazon for $20. (FYI, other dealers were asking upwards of $150!) I'm reading through it, but I went to the Sarasvati chapter first. Tha...

Hello. *peeks out from behind Sarasvati*

Hello, I'm shy. Specifically, I'm autistic, and I'm not sure how I will be received at this forum, especially since I have a wonderful relationship with a guardian deity. I know there is no God in Buddhism, but I am a Buddhist with a god(dess) who teaches me and guides me. Sarasvati, as my title ind...
