Blessings for rebirth in Sukhavati

What are some effective ways to plant blessings for rebirth in Sukhavati? Does anyone have any advice on any temples that have helped others cultivate or helped loved ones attain rebirth to Sukhavati?

Re: Dedicating Your Suffering

I just read this from Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche's book "The Excellent Path to Enlightenment": If we come across difficult circumstances, if we fall sick or lose everything we have, or are criticized or derided, we should bear in mind that the misdeeds we have committed during countless past lives would...

Kilung life release

Kilung foundation offers a life release service where you can sponsor the release of a large animal. To save a yak from imminent slaughter is $1600. Sheep is $260. A more inexpensive option is to arrange a life saving with a family, which is $250 for yak and $100 for sheep. I recently paid $250 to s...

Prostration, Does it Alleviate Effect of Wrong Action

When you prostrate for purification, is it possible that actually some of the effect of the wrong action can be alleviated, especially if it is fairly recent, or is that just too much to ask?

Phowa

Is it ever appropriate to request two lamas to do phowa for a dying person? Or is that just too much? For example, if one phowa wasn't successful, the person could have another chance maybe?

Re: what is compassion and how to develop compassion?

I am reading "a Fearless Heart" by Thubten Jinpa. It is all about how to develop compassion. I highly recommend it.

Re: i'm scared about death

One thing I know is that if you plant good causes, you get good conditions. If you plant a tomato seed, you get a tomato. For example, if you desire to be reborn in Sukhavati, Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land, then you want to plant causes for rebirth in that land. (Sukhavati is a realm in which once you...

Re: Vajrasattva

Thank you sincerely Jangchup and pema for the responses. I think I will continue to do both, however I can't recite very much mantra due to illness which is the main reason I asked the question. I'm looking to do something as an alternative to mantra recitation. I already do 108x prostrations every ...

Vajrasattva

Reciting Vajrasattva mantra is a very effective way to purify, but I wanted to ask about prostrating to Vajrasattva. Is that also a efficacious way to purify?

Re: Practices for epidemics and pandemics

I just got this email from Bhaka Tulku's center: Dear Friends and Sangha, Given the current situation and for everyone's safety and concern due to the Coronavirus; for now Vairotsana Foundation Garden Grove has suspended all practices until further notice. We wanted to be mindful of your health conc...

Bathing Purification

Does anyone know of any traditions within Buddhism that have bathing practices for purification. I know Shinto has ritual bathing. Can you bathe and visualize a deity at the same time and visualize impurities coming out while bathing?

Re: Discrimination

I really enjoyed your posts Herb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Ramakrishna practiced each path one at a time without mixing them. So he would be a practicing Muslim for a while, then he would put that totally aside and practice Christianity. Perhaps he wanted to see the benefits in his spi...

My creditors are really affecting me. I was told in my dream last night to do many light offerings to alleviate the burden. In the dream I started making light offerings and almost instantly the situation was alleviated.
