At the same time, they are threatening your family. Are there any prayers/ceremonies that can help protect your family? I have read that if spir...

Re: Mandala Sand

I think I got my answer from one of Lama Zopa's books. It looks like the sand is applied after the breath stops.

Re: Mandala Sand

No I don't have a terminal illness, but I've had a couple close calls in the last 3-4 years. I have a chronic illness that may end up being fatal in 10-20 years.

Re: Mandala Sand

Actually I'm just typing up something for when I die. It's for me. I stapled the baggy with the sand to my last wishes folder and want to make sure I have accurate instructions.

Mandala Sand

I have some sand from the deconstruction of a sand mandala. I wanted to ask when is it appropriate to place it on the head of one who is dying? Right before they die? Thank you.

Thought transformation and purification

I was reading one of Lama Zopa's books, Ultimate Healing, and in it he recommends those with mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia do thought transformation and purification practices which purify the negative thoughts and actions that are cause of the problem. Can anyone give examples of these kin...

Re: Experiences with Art Therapy?

I have been exploring art therapy again in the last few days and realizing the powerful effect it can have on transforming negative energies and blocked emotions. This drawing technique has been very helpful for me. It's called "Cleansing the Wound" Step 1) Acknowledge the wound or blocked emotion. ...

Bodhisattva

What if a person looks within and cannot generate the proper remorse for unskillful or harmful action? Is there a Bodhisattva one can call on who can help one reform and return to humility and humanity?

Re: Working with anger

In the book Healing into Life and Death, Stephen Levine talks about working with anger. Here is an excerpt: "relating directly with anger, we explore its roots...To allow anger to come into being without becoming it takes a very delicate balance, but to react to anger with fear is just more of the s...

Re: Prayers for victims of abuse

I know this is an old thread, but I remembered the Kwan Yin Prayer for the Abuser and thought it could be useful. "We do not often hear of such compassion that there is prayer for the one who has abused others. Yet many make such prayers. After an attrocity, praying for the well-being and healing of...

Re: Sealing merit

Lodro also says we should try our best to make our virtuous karma into immutable karma (by dedicating) and turn our unvirtuous karma into mutable karma (by confessing, etc.).

Re: Sealing merit

I just read this passage from the book "The Right View" by Khenpo Tsultrim Lodro; It discusses dedicating merit in depth, as well as discussing the differences between poisonous and nonpoisonous dedication: "What does dedication mean? For example, there are ten people and only one of them has food. ...

Re: Donden Chojin Assoc. Life Release for HH Karmapa

I was hoping this was an organization that had done their research about the actual release; proper environment, amount, etc. Life release can be a great practice if the right research is done.
