Re: Bad deeds with good intention

The most of the lamas and buddhist teachers aren't vegans. Why? In order to get milk, you need to separate a cow and her baby, cows often cry for days, because of the separation. Eggs are a part of the menstrual cycle of a hen. A hen would naturally has only 12 eggs per year and from each one of th...

Source of labeling meditation

Hey, recently I have been thinking about methods used to develop mindful awareness in daily life a bit more and I remembered labeling of movements and perceptions etc. as one of the available methods. What is the source of this method? I remember Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche using it when teaching. Is it ...

Re: Plants Acquiring Sentience

I have seen this idea explained that plants acted as "houses" to various spirits, however the relationship between spirit and "house" are so loose that we cannot talk about the plants being sentient. Just like our houses are not sentient, despite us living in it.

Re: Renewable Energy

If there is an answer to things like climate change etc. it is clear to me that it is a technological solution. It is irrational to think humans can just throw their things away and live in caves again etc. Like Malcolm says, it is not practical, it is just ideology and talk. If we are having a sec...

Re: Renewable Energy

Q, I'm actually not a fan of building big monasteries and huge statues. I'd rather see practice emphasized -- real practice and real Bodhicitta. IMO, big monasteries and huge statues are just the outer show of Dharma and, for me, are more a symptom of the Kali Yuga than the antidote. I agree with y...

Re: Responding to praise and compliments

I think it was Garchen Rinpoche who said (or was told) that both praise and critique are meaningless as they don't give you the traits you are being praised or critiqued for. It is better to know if you have any qualities and ignore the praise and critique. I am heavily paraphrasing so please take m...

Even if you are a famous celebrity it doesn't Exempt you from anything.
Oh it does! One example would be taxes.

Re: Renewable Energy

Okay, idealistic ideas (potentially killing milions of lives and shortening and degrading human lives everywhere in a horrible way) aside. The only thing to work is really a systematic change. Just buying the "right" product won't solve much as the "wrong" products are being vomited in millions and ...

Re: Offering bowl water and pets

i think i have had sufficient. why intention ponders more? why acting in ignorance doesn't produce bad fruit? until someone can explain why says what he/she says i will not discuss more. Well, you are right ignorance does produce negative karma. Jigten Sumgon said that there are no neutral deeds as...

Thanks, Malcolm. I have seen Khenpo Namdrol's text but wasn't sure I should get it as it is restricted. I have received direct intro from Namkhai Norbu many times (I want a commentary to assist me in reviewing the SMS Base). The LoB website says the following: " All those who have the fortunate wis...

Re: Offering bowl water and pets

animals do act out of ignorance. out of a selfish wish. if animals would have good intention they wouldn't be animals. taking what is not ours but what has being offered to the jewells in general is not good. acting out of ignorance doesn't prevent the fruition of the act. letting other to ruin the...

Re: Conspirituality - the overlap between the New Age and conspiracy beliefs

Christian churches never seem to have much trouble getting behind popular nationalist movements: it happens very regularly. They tie themselves in philosophical knots justifying their doing so, and never seem particularly concerned about apparent contradictions with their overriding themes of love,...

Jigten Sumgon Resources

Hi, I am looking for some ideally free resources on Jigten Sumgon. I read in Opening the Treasure of the Profound that there is a special pure land of Jigten Sumgon for those who feel strong devotion to him and somewhere else that it is possible to rely on him as a teacher in degenerate times. Which...

Re: Offering bowl water and pets

Okay can anybody here actually cite some credible source if it is actually bad for a cat to take a sip? If you go to credible sources, you find the opposite being stated. From the following: https://consciouscat.net/2019/08/19/why-hydration-is-critical-to-your-cats-optimal-health/ Water is critical...
