Re: Question for those who carry a mala in daily life

Well current marketing of dharma in the West via center gift shops, online stores and so on, often involves the selling of fancy fashionable looking malas...clearly part adornment.. which wouldn’t mix so well with some of these pith instructions for serious mantrikas. Some photo examples f...

The 'really?' was in response to the idea that someone felt that they would go mad if they did not have their mala upon their person.

Really?

Re: Question for those who carry a mala in daily life

When I stopped wearing my mala, it felt like I was going mad and that I has removed one of my limbs. I don't get why people won't wear them. All the blessings of your sadhana carry around within your mala. Really?.... There’s also another conduct that’s taught: never to let your mala lea...

Re: Question for those who carry a mala in daily life

Seconded. I think that there has always been some 'leakage' from 'Hindu' practice, particularly where the two traditions coexist, particularly in the Himalayas. The idea that malas have to be kept ritualistically pure is not something that I have been taught. when you have completed the circuit of ...

Re: Question for those who carry a mala in daily life

When you say retreat do you mean a strict 14 sessions/10 hours a day kind of retreat? This is normally taught when going through the use of vajra/bell/damaru in a strict retreat. /magnus 14 sessions / 10 hrs a day? Those sound like quite short sessions! 43 minutes? Sorry, 4 sessions a day all toget...

Re: Question for those who carry a mala in daily life

No, the point of the hidden mala is that you only use it while in retreat and so it is a part of Samaya. The normal human biological processes are not the problem. /magnus Again while not arguing that is never taught, it's worth pointing out that it is not a universal teaching. I have done a number...

That’s encouraging, however it doesn’t really change any of the potentially problematic issues, or the need for the above questions to be adequately answered, does it?
No, I just shared what I heard. Perhaps she can step up and answer them herself.

/magnus
Yeah that’d be ideal!

Re: Ngakpa International - Vajrayana Training

I find it troubling that instead of answering a number of (still unanswered and unaddressed) issues and questions raised by members here in this and related threads, Pema Khandro / Kali Ma’s students (or her sockpuppets) instead resort to intensively petitioning and pressuring the staff here to eli...

That is your prerogative. I met Dilgo Khyenste R. and have great respect for his memory. But I knew Akong R. over many decades and learned to trust him implicitly. But in the end we are talking about events of long ago and people who are dead. I was proffering a possible explanation for the Shambal...

Re: Is there a musical transmission in Dudjom Tersar Tröma Nakmo?

Great tips, much appreciated. Oh also, there are two authentic variations of melodies at the least with the medium length Troma Tsok, and this may also apply to the concise feast and the other feasts: The “upper tradition” or Dudjom Troluk, most well known among the diaspora in the Namkha Khyung Dz...

Re: Is there a musical transmission in Dudjom Tersar Tröma Nakmo?

I’d like to add that two Dudjom lineage holders living in the West who are accessible and have the full capacity for sharing these transmissions and melodies that I am aware of are Khandro Kunzang Dechen Chodron based in the USA and Lama Tenzin Samphel based in France.

Re: Is there a musical transmission in Dudjom Tersar Tröma Nakmo?

I’d agree that if you’re interested in the Dudjom Troma cycle it’s important to find a qualified Lama and ask them. This is sound advise, all around in Vajrayana. Different Lamas will have different styles of transmission. Incisive observation, which prevents a lot of confusion. Generally there are...

I’d agree that if you’re interested in the Dudjom Troma cycle it’s important to find a qualified Lama and ask them. Different Lamas will have different styles of transmission. Generally there are more public group practices where one might pick up the melodies in that context, and more restricted on...
