Re: Nichiren's relationship with Shijo Kingo?

Recall also, Nichiren was moved and redoubled his efforts when two illiterate farmers were executed for following him. No joke. http://www.kuniyoshiproject.com/Illustrated%20Abridged%20Biography%20of%20Koso_files/image040.jpg To be a junkyosha (殉教者): Can you think of a better way to live or die?

Re: Nichiren's relationship with Shijo Kingo?

I actually have considered writing such a statement to officials here that the dignity of life and inherent worth of each person (which is the heart of the Lotus Sutra) is the last, best hope for humanity and that any teaching that goes counter to that should be banned (read: fundamentalism of any ...

Re: Nichiren's relationship with Shijo Kingo?

I guess part of me reads this and forgets exactly how real it was, a benefit (or misfortune maybe?) I have for not living at this time in Japan! It was a brutal time and easy to forget the actual trials and tribulations. Try writing the present day oligarchs about how support for Buddhadharma is th...

Re: Another Topic of molesting female practitioner

I think men/people just should learn to not molest or use their power to sexually abuse others. It's not that hard to learn and respect the obvious cues that a person is interested in them or not. I think the species is better off cultivating compassion towards one another in recognition of our int...

But they weren't assholes.
Good thing for you. Violence by proxy is exponentially more powerful and you'd have had the fight of your life while being assigned the blame. Our kaliyuga times are interesting and they're only going to get more interesting, I think.

Welcome, mate. ;)

Sounds like you might have fun here, but don't forget in the end you have to taste the dharma without it it is wasted.
He'll learn a lot either way.

What is the best country to live in if you're a practicing Mahayana Buddhist (any school), and want to practice the Dharma?
If you'd like to join me on a handful of watchlists/blacklists, maybe Texas in about 50 years?

It's so sad that beauty fades and we get older. How do you all view getting older and losing your looks, etc?
It's an opportunity to do and say whatever you want and then claim you were confused due to advanced age when you get called out on it.

Was chatting with an old friend and discovered that award winning Japanese sci-fi author Kawamata Chiaki worked on the storyline to the expanded predecessor of one of my favorite childhood games (and storylines).

Yes, that's what I thought. A shame that.
But really, it's hard to come by that art. You'd think it was the poem from Kawamata Chiaki's "Death Sentences."

Someone once told me: one should have no family. Fellow seekers of dharma are your family.
A wise man once said to me, "Ain't nothin' to it but to do it." I suspect that he may have been talking about practice on the path to awakening.
