My son's safety

I would like to ask anyone with time and inclination to offer prayers for my son to remain safe and work his way through some great difficulties that have arisen in his life, please. (I have been doing Tara/Buddha visualizations, Om Mani's, burning incense and praying for purification and protection...

Re: Avaaz - a petition against Chinese occupation of Tibet

I have already signed this - and other - petitions. I beleive that the more support for Tibetan freedom, the more pressure upon world govts to act rather than smile and nod and then smile and nod at the Chinese as well. It seems to currently be building up and some nations have made a stand against ...

Re: Buddhist Book for Christmas

Mind in Comfort and Ease by HHDL is one of three books I am reading currently myself!!! As for my reccommendatuion - um.... well...there are so many different types of people and I think honestly that if i were to select a book for each person I know I would have trouble picking less than a...

Re: Effect of Technology on Modern Day Buddhism

:focus: for my input - If I had not read a blog, I would not have investigated HHDL books and I therefore would not have found Buddhism at all.... I also would not have discovered a place to purchase Buddhist books for when unable to get what I want at a library... I would have no friends or groups ...

Re: Buddhist way to deal with fleas

wild pets are an option for the pets V no pets dilemna - sharing love and time with wildlife, rather than keeping an indoor animal. Where I used to live, we lived close to pigeon breeders. they often let stock they didnt want to keep free. once upon a time a pair of these freed show pigeons found ou...

Re: Drink Water

My father calls me a nag for continuously topping up his water glass and keeps telling me he cannot fit so much fluid in (probably as he eats 6 times daily) yet he gets through less than a liter water per day. most of his fluid is in the form of tea, coffee, wine, beer - things that dehydrate. It wo...

Re: ...repression in Tibet getting worse by the day, ...

I am hoping things will turn soon - how much worse can things get before world govts DO something? You can see small moves happening - such as the Mexicans greeting HHDL despite pressure not to do so and the US govt withdrawing funding to the Chinese poor and giving funding to Tibetans in refugee se...

Re: What is your marital status?

as usual, i had to go with 'closest' rather than spot on description! There isn't a choice for those of us who are committed to a love relationship with someone but do not choose to have a life relationship with them - a soert of share love but do not share a house/life relationship.... Ok, I admit,...

Re: Rebuilding civilization in North America

Very interesting discussion - I have often wanted to break off from society and set up in a community that was not based on power, greed, and status - a more natural, sustainable, focussed and friendly environment. There are a few intentional communities I have looked into - but they are all in plac...

As someone who definitely has - experienced the pleasurable pains of being a mother or falling in love with someone, enduring the joys and pains of marriage, and remembering that person with great energy and love when they're gone. - maybe my experience can help clarify things a little. I have seen ...

I attended a couple of 'general public' 'Buddha's Birthday' BLIA events in the cities of Wollongong & Sydney, when I lived fairly close to http://www.nantien.org.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; before moving overseas. Although BLIA is not my own chosen path/former lineage, I was h...

Re: The sad truth behind London riot

a few things that i have noticed (as someone living in England) * the government made speeches today to pacify the 'general public' - threatning to punish the 'bad guys' but NOTHING seemed to be said about solving any of the problems that led to the situation arising. * whilst unemployment is a majo...
