Re: How important is forgiveness?

I was having a discussion on forgiveness with a Gelugpa monk friend of mine and I said to him: I think the problem with forgiveness is 1) It looks like you are doing the other person a favor when in fact we know that any abuse etc... we suffer from somebody is karmic debt, so in effect they are doi...

Re: time traveling?

A Rinpoche , and a Shoshu priest, both agreed with Hawking's theory of time as a circle. Time is so long it bends upon itself becoming a circle. Citation please. Where did Hawking say that and with reference to what? I mean - do you even know what these words mean? "Time bends upon itself becoming ...

Forgiveness is for your own sake, not the other person. When you forgive, you free yourself from the anger and bitterness that would otherwise fester in your heart.

That festering anger affects the whole pond

Re: How important is forgiveness?

Holding grudges is the most affecting ourselves in the first place, but also the environment. Just like holding on all kind of passing feelings-emotions is affecting our health, troubles our perception. Saying I forgive is easy of course, but, not so easy….looking to others, suffering of confusion ...

Re: time traveling?

People follow Osho because they took too much drugs, and now think that wearing a red turban and having tantric sex with other hippies is where its at. This is bullshit. Yesterday's bullshit is tomorrow's science. I believe it was in australia, not sure of the country, but when the first tunnel thro...

A Rinpoche , and a Shoshu priest, both agreed with Hawking's theory of time as a circle. Time is so long it bends upon itself becoming a circle. So once again i write this on dharma wheel. The Rinpoche said each repetition is a little different. What's this? the nature of time as we perceive it ? A...

Re: Why do we have to do continuous daimoku?

Hi people . I have this memory of a gosho line, it might be authentique Gosho or it might be fake...it's a goodie though. Nichiren Daishonin said somewhere (I think)something about dying something with indigo blue dye ..you need to dye it over and over again to get the desired effect of color. He li...

Re: Why do we have to do continuous daimoku?

Why can't we just say it once and achieve the state of Buddhahood. I'm trying to understand why the repetition. If you say Daimoku once ,yes it';s incredible to do so in mappo, but it's just a moment with the Daimoku. By chanting more than once you spend more time with that moment of you and the Da...

A tip about proper pronunciation with chanting. there was a person who wanted to chant Buddha Goddess Tara mantra. they did it for years and at times while walking, a Holy Man would see a Little green Buddha ab...

Re: Sanskrit Daimoku

I totally hear your point, and don't want to disrespect it, but I have a bit of a different viewpoint. The Buddha taught in India; therefore for me, pursuing the most historical and authentic source is important. ok ..so ..eventually you will find out that historically speaking the Sutra was never ...

Re: Sanskrit Daimoku

So like from what i gather from all this ; Nam Myoho Renge Kyo as taught by Nichiren, as experienced by serious practitioners of Nichiren Practice , somehow is so much more than the mere translation of the sanskrit title. It has a life of It's own , so to speak...if you get my drift. like I said som...

I've chanted Om Namo sad Dharma pundrarika Sutra ...and meditated on it as a mantra.. sad dharma pundarika sutra... the syllables might be incorrect but it sounds right....yes / no... I think Nam Myoho renge Kyo is imbued with something i would call "Divine Buddha Stuff" in this age on earth... I be...

Re: What would Nichiren have to say about Catholicism and what it teaches?

I think Nichiren would try and sift through the whole thing.... make sense out of it and realize people played with the teachings like they did and still do with Buddhist teachings. I think the real message that people originally died in the roman colosseum for became a political thing devised in Ro...

Re: Continuing a practice on my own

I once saw something odd back in the day....Some guy had been meditating on the NMHRK as a mantra type meditation...you silently chant in your head and watch it and try to focus solely on the mantra....i know NMHRK is not a mantra...anyway this guy did it for five years on his own without knowing an...

Re: why i stopped a daily Nichirenesque practice

I think Nichiren's teachings can only actually bring you so far... Actually ignorance dictates the above statement. It's like saying food can only bring you so far. Nichiren is like the DAWN of a new age and He manifested a gateway to the world of Buddha. I've been back practicing....why i keep qui...

Re: How is enlightenment achieved in madhamaka and tiantai?

My question is: did nagarjuna ever categorically offer a positive means or ANYTHING at all about what enlightenment is or how to get there? If nagarjuna didn't then what about This is the crux of misunderstanding Sunyata. there is no positive or negative aspects to the view... just an absence of an...

Re: How is enlightenment achieved in madhamaka and tiantai?

So I've been reading about nagarjuna and emptiness and see that he is always trying to negate the systems of his contemporaries whilst offering no system of his own. My question is: did nagarjuna ever categorically offer a positive means or ANYTHING at all about what enlightenment is or how to get ...
