Re: How to End Samaya?

To end samaya, one has two options I can think of:

Making the request to the guru who imparted the empowerment,(who must accept)

Becoming a Buddha

Re: Is Monastic Ordination the Better Option for Single Dzogchen Practitioners?

If I may... There is Dzogchen practice, and there is Dzogchen practice... ChNN clearly says that achieving Rainbow Body requires years of intensive retreat. When he says so, he also admits that because of his circumstances he could not do that much practice... So called integration in daily life doe...

You may want to check your initial assumption ;)

Re: "Instant presence"

I've just found this snippet from Dzogchen Teachings, Tashigar South: There are two types of presence. One is linked to your attention. You think, "I must not be distracted, I must stay present". You combine every action with this attention: this is ordinary presence. The other is when you discover...

Re: "Instant presence"

I think that ChNN coining the term “instant presence” refers to a Londge teaching of Garab Dorje that defines Rigpa as “Kétchik Dangpo Shépa” ཀད་ཅིག་དང་པོ་ཤེས་པ་ “the first moment/instant of cognition”.

During the time I spent in Dharmadhatu communities in the late '80's and early 90's, I witnessed an amazing amount of alcoholism in the Dharmadhatu culture. I have observed the same behavior in other communities, mostly Nyimgma, including Dzogchen Community (though here it is actively discouraged b...

Re: Is everything "one" or are we just inter-connected without a center?

I mean no criticism of Thich Nhat Hahn when I say that a misunderstanding of his teaching on 'Interbeing' has sewn much confusion..on the surface he appears to be supporting the ideas of Advaita. And some do not venture below the surface. Indeed Simon. I'm not sure I'd say "marginal" although it is...

Re: Is everything "one" or are we just inter-connected without a center?

Hi everyone !   May be is it worth pointing that Pratītyasamutpāda does not mean "interconnectedness" but "dependent origination", to chose one translation amongst many. "Interconnectedness" thought as some kind of "interpenetration", where "everything is connected with everything else, at every sin...

Re: About requesting initiation

Hi Pael,

It will be much easier and cheaper for you to attend an already organized Vajrasattva empowerment, even if this involves travelling etc..

I am sure that, with strong aspiration prayers and diligent searching, you will find one !

By the way: In which country do you live ?

Re: Difficulties to meet with one's Teacher

The Narak Dongtruk / Kongshak is not that long.
In group practices with chants etc... It takes around 20/30min. (depending on the numbers of mantra recited of course).
So I guess that a Lama could give you the lung in about 10min.

It may be worth pointing the fact that, as far as mantra's pronunciation is concerned, the right pronunciation is that of the guru who transmitted it to you ;)

What is Drakpa Korsum? It's one of the 4 canonic Dzogchen cycles in Yungdrung Bön. These 4 and their respective commentaries / instruction manuals are: Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü & Gyalwa Chaktri Drakpa Korsum & Yangtse Longchen Gabpa Gukor & A Tri Yetri Tasel & Namkha Trüldzö "Drakpa Korsum" means "The ...

Re: Dzogchen and Mahamudra: differences and similarities

Hi Marc, there is no result higher than anuttarasamyaksambuddhahood. The thirteenth Bhumi described in Nyingma texts is not the same as the thirteenth Bhumi described in sarma tantras, where it is the equivalent of the Nyingma 16th Bhumi. As we have seen above, it is the opinion of Buddhist masters...

Indeed, it seems to me as well that JLA said that, as per Shardza Rinpoche, alcohol is abusesively equated Amrita...

Do Buddhist “Tantric Tantras” explicitely refer to alcohol as a samaya substance ? Or do they actually refer to Amrita which is then conflated with Alcohol ?

Re: Dzogchen and Mahamudra: differences and similarities

@Kalden Yungdrung & @Malcolm Hi guys, Could it be that we have some semantic problem here?   Do Bönpo, Nyingma & Sarma really refer to exactly the same thing when they speak of Mahamudra ?   As far as Madhyamika is concerned and (as little as I know) “Bön Madhyamika” is very close / similar to “Guel...

Hi Zoom, Don’t you think that there is something quite contracdictory in asking questions on a forum to people you don’t know anything about and who haven’t provided you with any proof of their realization, while at the same time denying the utility (necessity?) of a teacher who has at least gathere...

Re: Where do I go to learn Trekcho

Hi TheWInner1 Indeed, Trekchö is not something that can be learned from a book and that requires instructions from an authentic Dzogchen master.   Some of them are more “open” about teaching wide (non-expert level) audiences. Here is a (far from exhaustive) list of some of the most respected Dzogche...
