Re: Dudjom Tersar question
It all depends on the lama...
But, kyabje Rinpoche usually says, phurba, dakini, and then guru. Or sometimes not guru, since it is in the ngondro. Sounds crazy, I know....
Their is a good lama in Switzerland. I forgot his name...

Re: Right livelihood
Thank you for everyone's thoughts in this... In my dualistic mind, I see the difference between a meat eater and one that sells meat. And yes, I think selling of meat is not right livelihood. I would also think that if you work for a resturant, cooking meat, then you too would be acquiring the same ...

Jesse,
I'm not questioning eating meat and not eating meat. I am asking about cooking and selling meat.

Right livelihood
I am asking a question that has probably been asked over and over again. But,.....
Is owning a resturant and cooking and selling meat would be considered "right livelihood"?

I meet him. He has a center in Maryland. He is a scholar from what I see. He was in Boudha this year. Gave a talk but didn't go. Maybe he is good for your friend, don't know. But, I didn't feel like receiving teachings from him

Re: Preparing for 7 day Ngondro retreat
Make many offerings before and after the retreat. Give as much as you can...
You could change the offering bowls after each session, if you have enough time and energy.
I too rejoice in your modivation and aspirations.

I truly don't know the vinaya...but I don't think having a apple 6, owning a motorbike, or other things, eating at expensive restuarnts for dinn...

Re: Depended arising
I agree....
I thought I read somewhere that "someone" was saying that the Buddha never taught this. Which I don't agree with, but I was just coming here to ask others. It seems like to me, after talking to a few people, they have a different understanding of the teachings of the Buddha.
