Re: Mondo Zen, Integral Zen (tm)

Hello all, New person here...I sometimes poke around but not a contributor. I keep a distance in fear I get too heady about practice as is my tendency. Though I hesitate...thought this might be a relevant subject to give a two cents on if it might be helpful. I just sat with some Mondo people and h...

Re: Mondo Zen, Integral Zen (tm)

I know next to nothing about the situation surrounding Shimano Eido Shimano Archive A long standing history of sustained, calculated harm, and abuse - and a sad situation for all involved. No-one should go to work or support this man, or those that are still in unison with him, including all of Zen...

Re: Mondo Zen, Integral Zen (tm)

I've read the manual and besides its language and using some psychological terms and ideas it is within the limits of a Zen Buddhist training. In fact, to me it looks very good as a modern application of classical techniques. It is to the point, step by step and helpful. The terminology used is idi...

Greetings Abu, ...but also that there are jewels still scattered gently around In your journey, who are some of the jewels you've encountered? :anjali: Apologies for the late response. Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn T (not well known and much more publicity shy), Kyozan Joshu Sasaki Roshi, and there are othe...

Dude, we all have lives off this forum. You know ... working full-time? Families? Practice? We can't police every single post by every member. We're all adults here and leave it up to members to discuss things. Unless it becomes an issue or someone is clearly being antagonistic and belligerent we'r...

E-sangha 2.0 (in the latter stage) would be awful ! Huseng's response in that other thread actually showed maturity, I thought.

What I have learnt about Zen & those that are called teacher

In my travels around the world, and intense training with Zen teachers and practice environments (including Theravadan centers) over many years now I have come to learn a few things: http://lisagawlas.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/golden-grass.jpg 1. The promises and premise of Zen Buddhism is true --...

Re: Is Eido Tai Shimano's lineage legitimate?

There is no way in fact... for the zen practice requires complete devotion. Complete 100%... if there is no devotion no commitment like this, then the lineage or teacher is ''not-legitimate'' from the subjective point of view... if one has faith, devotion and mental defilements are not billowing in...

Indeed. Same thing the Buddha said.
Sorry, Astus, the Buddha was talking about the Dharma teachings -- not places of sexual abuse, manipulation and financial irresponsibility.

Best not to confuse seekers, especially vulnerable seekers.

Best wishes,

"Is Eido's lineage legitimate?"

The short answer is NOT RECOMMENDED - look elsewhere for a responsible and credible Buddhist organisation.

Re: Getting to Lotus Pose

Yoga/stretching can help -- over time -- but for bodies like mine, it is doubtful it is ever achievable. My sister sat on the floor with me the other day and she just went straight into lotus and I said "I never knew you could do that" but it's just natural for her :)

Re: What do you think of this quote ?

Since I like to ask and answer, for my money, what seems to be incomplete in this picture is everyone already has all the tools and inventory necessary to actualise the end of suffering. And this is not a new search for meaning or inviting distress or hunger - it's just the basic bag of inventory we...

Ego

Sometimes people like to use the word "ego" in Buddhist circles. And ignoring all the debate and different conceptions of what that word actually means, I'd like to ask what is not ego?
