Re: Hello, looking for books for new buddhist
Hello, I am looking for good buddhist books in the mahayana/tibetan flavor. I am looking for books that kind of touch on everything. If you can suggest anything that'd be great! Thanks, Dan Buddhist Thought: A Complete Introduction to the Indian Tradition by Prof. Paul Williams Vision of Buddhism: ...

Re: Power of Vows of Buddha Amitabha?
If Amita Buddha were only a symbol then aspiration to be born in the Pure Land is meaningless and useless. It is also questioning the whole bodhisattva path. The result is then a simple calming practice of reciting the name that can bring some inner peace while one focuses on recitation, but nothin...

Re: Power of Vows of Buddha Amitabha?
If Amitabha is just a symbol, Pure Land would be the most useless path. Amitabha is real and Siddharta Gautama warned about how hard is to believe on such incredible concept, the Pure Land & Amitabha. Could you tell me where siddharta said this? In the Longer Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtra and Meditation...

Re: Power of Vows of Buddha Amitabha?
Is this really true that the power of Amitabha Buddha's vows really help us or just a statement to instill strong faith on the practitioners which would further help in their own practice? Japanese Pure Land Buddhists like Honen, Shinran and Ippen would say that it's ALL due to Amida. Chinese Pure ...

Just get the empowerment. If you have a connection to VY, you won't hesitate to get the empowerment, and you won't have to ask if you should get the empowerment.

Re: No Auspicious Signs = No affinities with Amitabha?
Here you have 2 questions: 1) Have you ever had any auspicious sign thast confirm your next rebirth in Pure Land? No 2) If not, do you think that means you may not rebirth there and/or that you dont have affinity with Amitabha? If you've heard of Amitabha, you have an affinity with Amitabha. I don'...

Jnana, what views do you think differ from the Dzogchen tantras? For what it's worth, I generally either agree with much of what Malcolm has to say on dzogchen or have no opinion on it one way or another. But to assert that he is "speaking from the point of view of the Dzogchen tantras and thi...

You should read his book "The Crystal and the Way of Light". It'll provide the context to help you understand what he's saying.Wesley1982 wrote:I don't mind watching the webcasts by the Dzogchen instructor but I'm trying to understand what he is saying.
