Re: Buddhist opinions about the Historical Jesus

Most people base their beliefs of Jesus from the Bible. Influences come from different understanding of it...school, church, TV, family, peers, etc. Constantine put the Bible together 300 years after Jesus' death. So it is said. What about the gnostic texts that were left out because they weren't un...

Of course, it is the biggest concept we have.

There is no worry regarding translations, even with good translations we will each carry away a different meaning according to our karma or spiritual dispositions/beliefs/concepts.

Re: Finally! Mahamudra Library of Tibetan Classics Volume

A translator must be able to fully understand what he or she is translating.
How do you know the translators are qualified?

You may get understanding from a translator that isn't very high.

Re: Amitabha Buddha

Chogyam Trungpa said that Zen belongs to the Mind Only school. Dzogchen is the teaching of the Universal Ground (or Ultimate Sphere) which contains 2 qualities. Dharma teachings do not conflict if they are from the source. Your level of source determines your level of understanding. Dzogchen require...

... a cloud from blocking the sun isn't responsible for the sun shining. So we practice, even if such practice doesn't cause the natural state but allows us to recognize it. Qualifications? Is an apprenticeship in carpentry a good enough qualification so that I can get the nature of mind pointed out to me or do I just need to have paid my membership fee to the respective club? :namaste: Greg, you must be master craftsman! :jumping: All practices have as their ultimate ...

Re: Vajra Hell

Dudjom Rinpoche says it's from when you've taken an empowerment - nothing about having to have recognised anything for samaya to 'stick'. Oh... very good! The book "Light of Fearless Indestructible Wisdom" by Rinpoche's student is very special to me. So many people now get empowerments wi...

Re: Vajra Hell

Hadn't Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche state that Samaya and Vaja Hell are relevant only to those who have discovered the nature of mind?
