Re: Dzogchen and the Two Stages

You are right Malcom, I am sorry.

Now do you understand that all of this isn't helping?

Re: Dzogchen and ngöndro

It is good merit to study terms of Vajrayana and the like, otherwise we would have nowhere to show it off! :woohoo:

Re: Dzogchen and ngöndro

Malcom, We practice Dzogchen yet there isn't even Mahayana practice being shown in the thread. If there is some good merit could someone please point to it? Is it possible to practice Dzogchen, but have only Hinayana merit being revealed? What good is book knowledge if it ain't getting us on the pat...

Re: Dzogchen and the Two Stages

The 10 stages of the path come from Sutra. It doesn't mean they aren't traversed if you belong to the lineage of Dzogchen. Same with the 4 yogas of Mahamudra or 5 Paths of Mahayana. It doesn't matter what you call the experiences of the path to Buddhahood. If you belong to a tantric or Mahamudra lin...

Re: Dzogchen and the Two Stages

Okay, does that conflict with something you read? Malcom, There are many practices and levels of depth the Buddha taught. However, they do not conflict with each other. We can't compare the teachings. There are contradiction when we compare teachings and lineages because of depth. That is why the bu...

Re: Dzogchen and the Two Stages

Someone's already stopped pussyfooting around and said the two stages are necessary, if I'm not mistaken. But that person is wrong, and not merely because CNNR said so. Well, necessary is a poor choice of words. ...how's the 2 stages are present or existing "on the path." This is where th...

Re: Dzogchen and the Two Stages

Both stages are necessary after the pointing out no matter what lineage you practice. The pointing out doesn't depend on what lineage you follow, the pointing out is impartial. Why talk about experiences you can't see until you realize the pointing out? How does that help? Wouldn't it bette...

Re: Questions about "supplication to the Kagyu Lineage"

Good post. The experiences will be realized on the path. After the pointing out. Like most practices people discuss here, most are too advanced. If you have to ask so many questions then it's probably not for you. A genuine one-on-one teacher is not going to give teachings you can't grasp. This is p...

Re: the point of Rupakaya

Rupakaya is the merit aspect of the 3 kayas. All buddhist teaching (tantra, dzogchen, sutra) do not conflict. They require the appropriate being to interpret them correctly. According to Buddha beings are either low, medium or high intellect which is the reason for different levels of teachings. You...

Re: Svabhavikakaya and Nature

Svabhavikakaya = 3 kayas or 3 bodies. Once a Foe Destroyer, one develops recognition of these bodies on the path. Lineages have different terms and instructions, but they all lead to the same thing. It doesn't matter what lineage a term belongs to. How does that help? They are just concepts until we...

Re: Buddhist opinions about the Historical Jesus

All true spiritual and religious teaching leads to the same thing. Some are deeper than others depending on where we are in the desire realm. The goal is to get us closer to our true nature. This is new age nonsense, I'm sorry, friend. The fact that many religions share some similarities, in some c...

Re: Prejudice against Buddhists in the West

In actuality, the bible was not meant to be interpreted as Catholic or Baptist or Buddhist when the word was written. What on earth does this have to do with the topic at hand? 1. Those religions came after the word was written. 2. Each religion has adopted their own interpretion of the word. 3. It...

Interfaith Dialogue

If people ask me if I believe in God I tell them I do, but in a different way. I then tell them I believe in what the Bible teaches and end it there. If there's further interest, I'll explain further depending on their disposition. Most of the time I say that all religions point to the same thing, t...
