Just a comment about that ritual that the text refers to....
This is not something anyone should engage in, honestly. These sorts of rituals are "sidelines" --and can cause more trouble than benefit, for most of us.

Re: What is this???
Looked like Lantsa script, or Ranjana script, used in Tibetan as well as in Indic languages. But not very good renditions. These words are Tibetan: bDud,Dre,Lha,Klu,Śrin,Gnod sbin,b'Tsan,dMuchen,Ze,phrag-la,chos-skyong,gnam-the,bar-the,sa-the,chu-'dre. Rough, quick translations: first one is likely ...

Re: Transpersonal psychology class … 🤔
I think it was my Junior year in College when I took a "cross-disciplinary" course --don't recall the name, but it had three modules: Jungian Psychology (which I would say is somewhat transpersonal), Tibetan Buddhism focused on the Heart Sutra (using a now-dead and somewhat discredited &qu...

Re: Sangye Lingpa texts
The text i was referring : https://garchen.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Samādhi-Empowerment-teaching.pdf I think this is a very particular thing, a very specific "samadhi empowerment" and it talks about the guru being in front of you, in the form of Cakrasamvara, etc. I do not think it ...

Vajra heart or Vajra Essence are both good glosses, I guess.

Re: "Vajra Heart Essence" = རྡོ་རྗེ་སྙིང་པོ = rdo rje snying po ???
Tibetan is written left to right, and top to bottom—except for vowel markers which are either all the way on top or at the very bottom, in the case of “Shabkyu,” or the u vowel marker. རྡ is the top of a “ra” on top of a da. རྡོ་ is rdo….that is a “Naro” vowel on top, which is the “o” sound. རྗ. Is ...

Re: Is the nature of the mind cognizant of itself?
Whatever it is (in Tibetan) can we agree it most definitely is self-cognizant ? Yes, provided we understand this term "self-cognizant awareness" to be a contraction of "one's own personally intuited knowledge". This phrase is used even in Pali canon to refer to the fact that one...

Re: I don't understand the first noble truth
Well of course I follow basic western ethical principles. I meant giving up on framing it within a Buddhist lens, any attempts at awakening, worship, etc. FWIW, IMO framing it in a Buddhist lens is far less important than what you do. If you follow good ethics and you have a true longing for libera...

Re: Pointing out instructions
I'm not sure you can answer "how" one has faith in a Teacher. I think it's primarily a function of past-life karma. Since you feel incapable of having faith in a real-life Teacher (at least for now), perhaps you should focus on accumulating merit through the many means of the sutrayana wh...

Re: Pointing out instructions
Pointing Out instructions, no matter in what tradition, require a great degree of faith in the teacher who is bestowing them. Aside from all the opinions regarding on-line, real time, meat-space, recordings and transcripts and books........a degree of faith and trust in the teacher is essential to r...

Re: I don't understand the first noble truth
I just said that my life isn't completely pervaded by dukkha. If you agree with that, then you are in complete agreement with me regarding this point. That doesn't mean we bother to read it. In Zen my teacher looks like I skinned a cat when I mentioned the Pali canon. Maybe you disagree with him, m...

Current State of the Shangpa Kagyu
The Shangpa Kagyu has always been primarily, and almost exclusively, a lineage of practice. What does that mean? There is a corpus of instructions and practices gathered together, meant to be practiced in a methodical manner, within a lineage of gurus and disciples who have brought the practices to ...

You don't even have the courage of your opinion. You said: You're going to tell us it was not you? It's not my claim but since you cannot understand context you are mistaken. Would Longchenpa be a good authority enough for you? It is ironic that a guy who appears so "opposed to concepts" ...
