Re: World Chess Championship 2013
Buddha still evaporates Thor, in any kalpa. Sorry for being a sore loser, but now I have to eat Rakfisk every week for 3 months. Rakfisk - Norwegian fish dish made from trout or sometimes char, salted and fermented for two to three months, or even up to a year, then eaten without cooking. Los...

Re: World Chess Championship 2013
But since your mind has more capacity for development than your body, when someone goes to the 'Dharma gym' their development can be exponentially greater, hence 'crazy wisdom'. I know a lot of people won't like that. But since we were talking about chess on a buddhist website I thought I'd throw i...

Re: World Chess Championship 2013
Carlsen will wipe the floor with Anand. /thread :meditate: ahem... Good call. I thought Carlsen would win it too, but wasn't expecting it to be by 3 wins (points), if this is how it ends. I imagine Carlsen, playing white, will just play for a quick draw and win the match later today/tomo...

Re: worth watching
This has nothing to do with the Fed, or the I.R.S., which the cartoon blames for all these problems. The IRS just enforces the tax codes passed by the Congress and presidents. Blaming them is like blaming a police officer when he arrests someone for robbing a store. The police is just enforcing the...

Re: World Chess Championship 2013
Anand used about 40 minutes on move 23 and was running low on time after that. I suppose Bf1 would have been the better move; resulting in either a win or at least a draw for Anand.catmoon wrote:Ermagerd what was that Nf1 shriek shriek aaaaaaaaaagh

Re: World Chess Championship 2013
I think so, but not sure since I am no expert at the openings. I prefer the displacement variants where the pieces in the back rows are randomly place and that way chess strategies start from move number one; such as Fischer960 or my variant, D-Chess.

Beautiful paintings! Do you do Buddhist-themed paintings too?
I like all art, but my favorites are Buddhist-themed; thangkas, statues, architecture, etc.

Re: Apology to women
At the 3:50 mark in the original video (not the spoof) they say that men have ignored the feeling and intuitive side and favored a view more toward data and logic. As if women are not capable of advanced degrees, logic, data??!!! How sexist!! They need another video to apologize for that. http://www...

Re: World Chess Championship 2013
Do I see an emerging pattern here? It looks as if Carlsen is simply superior in the end game and knows it, and is just pushing through the midgame hoping to apply his strength in the end game. Players at all levels do this... I think you are right about that. Also, I have heard Anand is ...
