Why not?
Because people have ideas about appropriateness of certain words, it's the same with how people would say prostitute or sex worker rather than hooker or similar.

Re: Tibetan Word of the Day

zhang gstong ma - prostitute Nope. Correct spelling should be : gzhang tshong ma or gzhang 'tshong ma. This is of particular use since the literal meaning is she (ma) who sells ('tshong or tshong) her anus (gzhang). Not all prostitute sell that. Or maybe you wanted to refer to male prostitutes (gzh...

Re: Nyingma Ordination

There are different ways this can happen. I know some who took novice vows under Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok, and then later full ordination from others in exile, including HHDL, so there seem many options.

Re: Murder of Akong Rinpoche & Entourage

A truly spectacular Lama with a pragmatic and practical approach that is very rare. As well as a huge loss to the Karma Kagyu in general, this is a big loss to the thousands of people who depended on him, through Rokpa, for education, healthcare and even food, in some parts of the world.

Re: Passing of Karma Chagme Rinpoche

Re: Chod empowerments

If one understands Chod, there is nothing else one needs in order to practice the Dharma. In that sense, practicing Chod and practicing the Dharma are synonymous. I agree. In my limited experience Chod really covers everything. Happy do do nothing else for the rest of my life. I think "Chod&qu...

Re: What sadhana did Marpa and Milarepa really practice?

One needs all three aspects, ideally from the same Lama, or at least from Lamas authorised/recommended by the one who gave us the wang. But that is also no guarantee as it's possible to pick up all sorts of wangs these days from travelling Lamas and they are given quite freely. The best thing"d...

Re: Ole Nydahi and Trungpa rinpoche

Nydahl has at some point fallen out with almost ever Karma Kagyu Lama, including Shamar Rinpoche, so taking Trungpa's reputation for "unconventional" beahviour it wouldn't be an implausible hypothesis.
