Re: Teacher-Student Consent
Concerning consent: The master Asvaghosa says: In that case, inappropriate times are when A woman is menstruating, pregnant, Has an infant, is unwilling , Is in pain or is unhappy and the like, Or is maintaining the eight-part one-day vow. Again, the Great Elder is similar to Asvaghosa with the diff...

Re: Questions and doubts about Ngöndro requirements at Diamond Way Buddhism
Lama Ole's DWB is a rather controversial group. The opinions are very split on it as you yourself noted. I myself am not a big fan. What I like aboit it is that it did give a chance to many people to meet qualified Kagyu masters, however all the other controversial baggage is not worth it in my opi...

Re: Sub-schools of Kagyu
Quick follow-on question... Is the Karmapa regarded as the head of just the Karma Kagyu lineage, or all the sub-schools of Kagyu? Googleing on the internet, I'm pretty sure it's just the Karma Kagyu sub-school, but thought I'd check. Always good to get an answer from an actual individual! Only Karm...

Re: Any ideas on Carlos Castaneda?
All I know is his wikipedia page: The veracity of these books was doubted from their original publication, and they are now widely considered to be fictional. Correspondent Sandra Burton, apparently unaware of Castaneda's principle of freedom from personal history, confronted him about discrepancies...

Re: Struggling for years
“When you listen, you don’t retain the words; when you contemplate, you don’t understand the meaning; when you meditate, you don’t develop them [realizations] in your mental continuum. When the mind has such little power, the oral instruction is to rely upon the power of the field [of merit].” -Lam...
Re: HYT Wangs
While there was some confusion surrounding possible commitments when His Holiness conferred the Jinisagara empowerment, for the Heruka empowerment there was no mistake as to what the expectations were. It was clearly posted on the website of OHHDL and a link was also provided here. I think it is be...
Re: HYT Wangs
During the initiation though His Holiness said that you should also practice the all encompassing yoga daily. FPMT have a transcript of this practice but it is just like in the initiation and other teachings His Holiness has led. What is this practice? I only heard HHDL say to practice bodhichitta ...

Study the Kagyu Lam Rim. The Jewel Ornament Of Liberation is the main 'textbook' of the Kagyu. You can download a free .pdf by googling "jewel ornament of liberation .pdf" There's an ongoing commentary at The Garchen Institute on the The Jewel Ornament Of Liberation. https://www.youtube.co...

Re: The Karmapa fathered a child - DNA test reveals
I've hesitated to say anything here, as I think most people will immediately jump to conclusions about my position and my affiliation, etc. But.....I have read the legal pleadings and discovery requests, etc. and the blog post, etc. that started this thread. I am apt to be castigated if I say anyth...

Re: The Karmapa fathered a child - DNA test reveals
I saw this a call for help So did I. Actually I pity him. I do not condone rape or sexual abuse, of course. But he's been struggling with his role as Karmapa for quite some time. In an interview with a German radio station in 2013 he had already said "I don't have a feeling that I'm reincarnat...

Re: The Karmapa fathered a child - DNA test reveals
When the story broke a few years ago, I gave it 50/50 odds it was some conspiracy, Chinese or otherwise, but the fact pattern (if true) is just so sad and damning and frankly pathetic. Why he didn't just take a consort or even a wife/gf is beyond me. It still may be a Chinese conspiracy to destroy ...

Re: The Karmapa fathered a child - DNA test reveals
So the Shamarpa was right all along...
He's seduced a nun, even if he's not a monk, I wonder what the karmic results of that are...
Meanwhile the other Karmapa is in a happy marriage.
