Re: Your / "a" Buddhist interpretation of Jungian Synchronicities?
Jung was kind of a weirdo.
purity
I'm reading Drung, Deu, and Bon. In the translated excerpts in that text, I see frequent reference to or appeal to purity. The "pure race." the pure teachings.
What is translated as "pure" in this context, and what is meant by it?
thank you

Re: Lungta where have all the prayer flags gone?
If your in the US... https://tibetanspirit.com/collections/prayer-flags I’ve purchased from them in the past... Good reviews from me.. nice folks. I've purchased from Tibetan Spirit, and from Potala Gate, in the past. My point is that inventory at retail outlets like these is very much diminished f...

Re: Tibetan View of Tendai and Shingon Vajrayana
What is the Tibetan view of Tendai and Shingon Vajrayana? I know the practices may be different, although do Tibetan's view the other paths as an authentic way to reach Buddhahood in one lifetime? There is no view because traditionally, Tibetans were unaware of what was happening in Japan. However,...

Re: Tibetan View of Tendai and Shingon Vajrayana
What a very interesting thread…so what about the fruits of these practices? Are there for example records of attainment of the Rainbow Body in Shingon or Tendai? Legend has it that Kukai is in eternal samadhi in a cave on Mt. Koya. Dengyo Daishi (Saicho) is present at a certain site on Hiei-zan.

Lungta where have all the prayer flags gone?
I'm noticing that there's less variety in Lungta than there used to be available for purchase here in the US, and they seem to go out of stock quicker.

Re: Is the marketing of Buddhism valid, or a result of tanha?
I'm glad you're here Heimdall. I don't think anyone can think their way through the issues you're describing. From the little squirt of experience I've had over the years, a good way to find your starting point is to cultivate the best intention you can. Why am I doing this? Because I want to... [fi...

Re: I'm back
Anyway, that's a sample of life's rich pageant. That's what I've been doing with my life of late. The three realms are impermanent; migrating beings’ birth and death is equivalent to watching a show; a being’s life is like a flash of lightening in the sky; passing by as swiftly as a mountain waterf...

THANK YOU MUTSUK for the very helpful and detailed response. I now have a much better understanding of how this situation has unfolded. Wow. What more is there to say? There are a few points related to my last post that I must have communicated poorly, but since this is a public forum and questions ...

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Oh, one more thing: My dad's fighting stage 4 cancer. he lives a little over three hours away, if you haul ass through the Columbia Gorge. His girlfriend is caring for him, BUT now she has an aggressive cancer going on too, so she's getting a pretty invasive su...

Re: DC Namkha questions
at the risk of necro-ing an old thread, I pose a question that may be useful to the OP and will surely be useful to me. Is it legit to simply hire someone trustworthy and knowledgeable to build a namkha on your behalf, so it's done correctly, and then consecrate it yourself? If so, is there anyone o...

Re: The Precious Treasury of the Expanse and Awakened Awareness: The Ornaments of the Definitive Secret
I got curious about it because translation is time-intensive work done by well-trained specialists. It ain't cheap, so there's typically some institutional support, or just straight-up financial support, behind translation projects. Here's what I learned: Pointing Out The Great Way Foundation suppor...

I feel this precious teachings over 1000 pages needs own thread. So that those interest can find it easily. The dByings-rig mdzod is indeed a precious teaching (obviously the opus magnum of Shardza Rinpoche) but this translation is so wrong in too numerous places to be a good reference for learning...

Do you actually know anything about the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem? I certainly don't, which is why I think that transition went far over my head. Also, are you sure he is adapting Ziporyn specifically? I have only read Evil And/Or/As the Good and small sections of Being and Ambiguity . The connection be...
