Re: Why Mudras?

I know in pictures that Deities are sometimes portrayed using Mudras but was wondering in a more active sense like once enlightened Mudras are something that are spontaneously accomplished.

I was wondering if anyone knows if Red and White Bodhicitta is the same as Soma (water aspect) and Agni (fire aspect) found in Hinduism?

Thank you.

Re: Bliss

Does the view change at all amongst the different school of Tibetan Buddhism. Perhaps where Nyingma would say that bliss is inherent while Gelug might say bliss is not inherent but only a skillful means?

Re: Conventional Truth in Nyingma

I know in Mipham's classification in his Lion's Road That Proclaims Zhentong the classification is that of the conventional where there is an impure or incorrect perception and where there is a correct perception or the perception where the subject (meditator) is viewing the object emptiness. Howeve...

Conventional Truth in Nyingma

So, basically the Nyingma's will say that there is a impure appearance making of relative truth and a pure appearance making of relative truth or a mind that is in accordance with the way things are. In terms of a mind that is in accordance with the way things are or pure appearance of relative trut...

Re: Images

Is Guru Rinpoche sometimes depicted with toes or feet curled in? I have a picture of him with his foot out but it doesn't look like he has any toes or they might be curled up.

Re: Images

Yep, the first poster of this thread provided a link to a good site that has two of the Longchen Nyingtik posters available for purchase (one that is darker characteristic of the Eastern Kham style and a lighter one characteristic of the Bhutanese style).

About the images you can find on the internet. Can anyone just download or do you have to have some kind of permission? I'm not really sure how that works.

Re: Six Perfections and Five Wisdoms

I have come across a few teachings that mention something like Ratnasambhava is associated with generosity and Amitabha is associated with meditation. It almost seems then like Akshobya could be associated with patience, Amagosidhhi associated with endeavor, and Vairochana associated with wisdom. No...
